I love the trend toward customization among the major sneaker manufacturers on the market today. We all know you could get special edition, limited and customized kicks in less popular brands in the past but Nike has led the way in making a pair of shoes fit your personality. The Nike Air Max 95 iD is part of the Nike iD system that allows customers like you to create your own colorway. You also get some great extras and special items with the purchase price (which easily exceeds $100).

The good thing about Nike iD shoes is that you can choose from a number of colorways already created by Nike if you don’t feel creative. The Air Max 95 is comfortable, offers great support and wears well while you run. Artists in the sneaker community can adjust the base color, tongue color and a dozen other accents to create a distinct offering. With the Air Max 95 iD, you will never complain about your shoe’s style unless you have a tendency toward self loathing.

    Puma Inflection

These Puma Inflection sneakers feature an unusual side lace design.

The use of a combination of three fabrics – mesh, leather and suede, along with three colors create a unique shoe. The mesh makes them breathable and comfortable and the design makes them a rare choice.

You can find these sneakers and several other less common Puma shoes at Saks Fifth Avenue. These shoes above are priced at around $100.

    Runway Honja Hi-Top for Women

This hi-top sneaker for women features military green canvas with suede trim. The Runway Honja from Y-3 also offers a smooth leather lining and padded leather insole.

The orange Y-3 logo on the tongue and heel are nice touches that make this shoe stand out. It also features tiny white polka dots forming stripes on the sides and toe. These little dots give it a cute, feminine touch.

These shoes aren’t cheap, however. At around $230, they’d make a nice gift for yourself or your girl.

  • Timberland’s 6 inch premium Lux series boots.

Timberland 6 inch premium lux series boots

Timberland has received such overwhelming response for its boots in Japan. It has again launched a new lux series of boots especially for Japan’s consumers. These boots are available in the three colors of brown, black and beige. Timberland’s boots have the right thickness of soles to give maximum protection and maintain an optimum thickness that prevents overweighing the boots. In almost all footwear, the soles comprise the majority of the weight of the shoes. The feet and body exert more energy when the boots are heavy. However, boots cannot be equipped with soles that are too thin because the sharp edges of walking surfaces can be felt as the body weight and gravity exerts pressure on the walking surface.

I have done a fair amount of hiking along nature trails. I can attest to the fact that the soles of footwear are of utmost importance. If the soles are sturdy but thin, walking on pebbles and rocky terrain feels like walking on nails and tacks. The ridges at the soles help to provide grip on the ground. I think these boots will be great for hiking. View More Photos/Info

As a sneaker fan, I am always looking for the latest and greatest in shoe design. I love shoe companies that go above and beyond in the creativity department when they come out with their new lines. I will usually give a line the benefit of the doubt if it is original and features a good selection of colorways for any occasion. I think that Nike showed a bit of creativity with the Dunk Lo CL that is coming out soon but their efforts may come up a bit short.

The Nike Dunk Lo CL comes in purple/black and khaki/orange colorways that offer night and day for the average Nike shopper. The colors are adequate though I have never been a big fan of purple and black together. My real problem comes with the sole design which is given a rough hewn appearance to look like a city street. I appreciate the idea of blending the soles of your shoes with the asphalt of the city street. I also appreciate that Nike has used similar designs in the past and tries to stay cutting edge with each line. I just don’t love this design and it would discourage me from buying the Nike Dunk View More Photos/Info
