Brandi “Sneaker Vixen” Kaye customized a pair of Nike Sellwoods ahead of President Barack Obama’s inauguration on January 20, 2009. Sneaker Vixen used a women’s size 8 Sellwood to pay homage to the incoming president. I found these photos on the Sneaker Vixen Facebook page linked here.
On the right toe box, the designer painted a portrait of the new president framed by “Barack Obama” and “44th” in black letters. The left toe box features the ubiquitous Obama campaign logo along with the date for Inauguration Day. As we move back from the toe box to the middle panel, we see the red, white and blue of the American flag displayed in creative fashion.
Sneaker Vixen used the heel for the most inspired bit of design on the Barack Obama Sellwoods. Employing the same black/off-white colorway from the toe box, the designer wrote out words like “Hope” and “Change” that represented Obama’s campaign promises.
