This wonderful design from the Jordan series is a reference to the times when the Jordan brand was shaking the earth with each new model relesed. Those days are not gone entirely, but there is certainly something lacking in the love of retros these days in comparison to the never ending creativity of the past.

The Jordan Old School is all about the revival of the ancient traditions of Nike, and recommitment to the virtues that made Nike the greatest among all other brands. The technical prowess of the designers is obvious in the uninhibited power of the pair, but more than that, these is a declaration of triumph after the struggles of decades.

The Asian wind is blowing strongly in the sneaker scene these days. Various new designs by Japanese designers have been introduced, but the power of this latest pack from Asics tramples even the best among them.

That is not to belittle the other Asian brands, of course. But sometimes, due to inspiration,luck or some unfathomable alignment of the stars, some mind somewhere will conceive a masterpiece beyond compare. Naturally,  even the best of the world must give way to such a temporary flaming of creativity, which is way beyond the ordinary. We just say that this is the case with this pack from Asics.

The placid fire of this design will burn the stores, including Hanon, sometimes around June.

Greedy Genius – S$B NYC – Secret Sneaker Bombing New York City

The Sneaker bomb phenomenon is continuing unabated. As usual the artists/geniuses behind this exciting act of creativity are unknown, but their sign of audacity is hanging from all kinds of tall structures in NYC.

The Greedy Genius guys seem determined to hypnotize us into getting rid of our excess funds  in return for the wonderful designs that they offer. Needless to say, there is a lot more than just a couple of shoes hanging here and there behind the sneaker bombs: it is more about a rebellion against convention, against commonplace, and againt the widespread complacency in our lives. Emmanuelabor harkens back to the good old days of cassette tapes with the Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Air Force Ones. The designer used the “purple tape” version of Raekwon’s 1995 album “Only Built 4 Cuban Linx” as inspiration for these customs. I found Emmanuelabor’s latest work at the Nike Talk post linked here.

The Only Built 4 Cuban Linx AF1s delve deep into the design of cassette tapes. Emmanuelabor applied actual cassette tape on the toe, middle panel and heel set against the lyrical backdrop. The middle panel shows the spoke of a cassette tape version of Raekwon’s debut. The middle panels and Nike swooshes are clear to put the viewer’s focus on this musical relic rather than trying to add another design elements.

I have covered plenty of rap-inspired customs in the past but I particularly liked Emmanuelabor’s incorporation of lyrics into the design. To coincide with the release of the Wolverine movie, Nike is releasing this colorful pack that woiuld surely be the choice of Wolverine himself if he were with us today. There are a numberr of interesting colorways to resemble the different moods of the superhero, and the agile yet mighty design createst a very fulfilling experience for the owner.

The form is conservative, but in that conservatism there’s a great degree of innovation implemented through the blending of different features which all come from another model of past Nike series. Nike aims not to confuse us with this design, aiming to enforce a pure model of success and supremacy.

So what is the secret of a perfect design? Is it inspiration, is it enthusiasm, is it commitment and determination, or is it just luck? The question should be asked to the individual behind the masterpiece in this picture, since he is the one who has created perfection.

The eyelets, the elephant print, and the icey outsole are the various features of a perfect pair that can only be found in harmony in a design by Nike. It is so difficult to create something like this without ending up with a ridiculous result: yet Nike was victorious.
