Evolved Footwear entered the Gourmet Dropped Diablos in the first round of the 2009 Clash of the Customizers. The designer’s opponent is JBF28 who was featured in yesterday’s post. You can find out more about the Gourmet Dropped Diablos at the Clash of the Customizers website linked here.
The designer decided to eschew Nike Dunks and Air Force Ones in favor of the Gourmet Diablos. These high-top casual sneakers are transformed into sneaker art incorporating the off-the-wall vision of Evolved Footwear. The base shoe was a simple white sneaker that was easy to transform using gray and black spots (or “drops”). Evolved Footwear used black stitching to apply gray fabric over the eyelets, heel wraps and collars.
The gray covers on the Gourmet Dropped Diablos are adorned with buttons, orange thread and scratch marks to create a worn-in look. While the overall design may seem a little slapped together, I applaud the designer’ use of the Gourmet Diablos as well as his bold vision. You can check out View More Photos/Info
