  • Reebok Turqoise Pack: An Unwanted Look at the Future
By on October 22nd, 2007 | No Comments Comments

    reebokturqoise.jpg

The stereotypical vision of the future involves drab gray jumpsuits, strange color accents and a general disdain for style. Reebok must have been watching “Logan’s Run” or another movie about the post-apocalyptic world when they released shoes in the Reebok Turqoise pack. The gray, magenta and sky blue colors that are used on the BB5600 and the ERS 2000 offer nothing extraordinary for the average sneaker fan. I have mentioned several times my dislike for Reebok’s classic looks but the colorway used for the Turqoise pack may be a bigger offender. If you want to check this two pack on your own, check out the Sold Out website.

New Balance x Mita Sneakers MT576V

The MT576V Thunder is the New Balance and Mita Sneakers collaboration that is part of the New Balance 20th Anniversary series which is officially beginning next year.

The MT576V is a hybrid of their M576 and MT580. These sneakers look cool in the light, featuring a purple shiny colorway with a neutral toe and velcro straps. But when you turn off the lights, that’s when these shoes become really sweet.

The toebox and the trim around the New Balance logo glow bright green in dark. Several glow-in-the-dark shoes have come out recently and these are some of the best looking in my opinion.

The offfical release date is November 3rd but you can find these shoes now directly at Mita Sneakers and at other shops like Atmos-Toyko.

Check out the pictures to see the glow-in-the-dark look and other sleek details.

    Converse CT Sloppy Thrift Hi

The classic Converse high tops get worked over with this new look in the Converse CT Sloppy Thrift Hi.

I hate it when an old school shoe gets ruined by a modern funky style that someone thinks is cool. And to me, that’s what happened here.

If you are dressing up as a bumblebee for Halloween, these shoes are a good choice. Otherwise, I’m not really sure why you would wear them. These bright yellow and black striped shoes are definitely funky.

But hey, everyone has there own taste and maybe you like them. If so, you can get them from the Overkill Shop for 59.90 Euro, which is about $85 USD.

  • Opening Ceremony x Tretorn Collection.

    Opening Ceremony x Tretorn Collection.

New York City boutique and brand, Opening Ceremony, has partnered with the Swedish sneaker brand called Tretorn. Tretorn is doing this as part of their celebrations doing a comeback into the sneaker manufacturing industry. Tretorn has also collaborated with Acne Jeans and other brands that are compatible with its sneaker image.

This Opening Ceremony and Tretorn collection has a few designs. The basic shape is the same, from a vintage Tretorn design. This old design comes from the 1950’s collection. This current shape has a slight modification and improvement. The shape is streamlined to make it look a little different so thatTretorn’s fans will recognize its basic shape and yet feel that the shoe has evolved along with the times.

This collection is available in three patterns of checks and plaids. These are fairly regular and classic variations of checks and plaids.

I like the black and plaid pattern the best. It has thin strips of yellow running across to form yellow outlines that bring life into the plaid.

I think the red/black/white plaid looks good too. If white socks are used, it will bring out the focus on the shoe. However, colored socks can also be worn. If you want to blend in, choose a color that is already in the shoe. If you want to stand out from the crowd, choose a totally different color from what your shoe already has.

  • A Kinder, More Subtle Version of the Reebok Reverse Jams

My fellow writer Ann spoke to you a month ago about the four wild colorways of the new Reebok Reverse Jams. Not everyone can pull off bright yellow or pink shoes even as part of a retro outfit or Halloween custom. If you are looking for the classic Reebok style that the Reverse Jams bring without the attention-grabbing colorways, you can choose the black/white colorway pictured above. I am not a fan of the classic Reebok look and I wouldn’t recommend any of the Reverse Jams but if you have to choose one for everyday use, purchase the black/white colorway.

  • Nike Trainer Dunk Low – Gray/Pink
By on October 22nd, 2007 | No Comments Comments
    Nike Trainer Dunk Low

The Nike Trainer Dunk Low are a model hybrid of the Air Trainer 1, Dunk Low and Free. This gray and pink colorway is part of the hybrid Tech Pack.

Though it’s a hybrid shoe, it’s still pretty straight forward looking. The pink shades aren’t too overwhelming and the yellow NIKE on the heel looks sweet.

If you are into the hybrid shoe styles, this isn’t a bad choice. You can find these sneakers at Atmos-Tokyo and there’s several pairs up on eBay.

Check the rest of the pictures for a close-up of the details.
