Stepping into the Cartoon World with Puma Basket 68By SneakerFreak on January 4th, 2008 | No Comments
The vibrant colors and over-the-top graphics of the
Puma Basket 68s will dazzle your eyes in this new year. These shoes are available at selected retailers including OverKill with a wider release in late January 2008. The black/gray colorway is shown above which features an interior lining that matches the exterior colors of the other colorway of Basket 68s. You can see the alternative colorway below though you may need to put on some sunglasses to shield your eyes from the bright yellow and pink figures. If you are serious about the Puma Basket 68s, you need to purchase both. The matching colorways make the Basket 68s a set of twins you should not dare separate. You can switch off the yellow colorway with the black/gray shoe from one day to the next for continuity. Be prepared to save your hard-earned money and invest in Puma’s latest foray into special edition sneakers.
Nike Blazer Mid Premium China Rock FestivalBy SneakerFreak on January 4th, 2008 | No CommentsChina’s rock music enthusiasts look forward to the China Rock Festival, traditionally held in Beijing during the first week of May each year. This is the largest rock festival held in China.
Inspired by the event and in conjunction with the Olympics taking place in Beijing this year, Nike has just released the Nike Blazer Mid Premium China Rock Festival.
This shoe features a Black Leather/Black Woven/Metallic Gold/Red colorway that is sure to please. The upper of these sneakers are a black women material, while the toe and trim is black leather. But the standout portion of these shoes is in the use of gold and red.
A metallic gold perforated Swoosh and red/gold star symbol on the heel highlight these kicks.
This shoe is a Quickstrike and is available right now at
Kix-Files for just $135. Clae Whitmans sneaker.By SneakerFreak on January 4th, 2008 | No CommentsClae has the tradition of using strong, clean colors in its premium leather sneakers. For 2008, they have continued their customary releases in strong styles and single colors. This is their first shoe for 2008; the Whitman. This shoe is sold at Complex. It costs about $90 a pair.
Clae launched its hybrid style of sneaker –classic footwear to make its mark creating a new definition of casual footwear. This category was named as the athleisure category. In 2003, Clae won the Sportswear International Fashion Award (SIFA) for the Best Men’s Footwear Collection. The Whitman is a low cut shoe with some characteristics from the classical Budapest leather sneakers. Budapest organizes the annual exhibition called the Budapest Leather and Shoe Week. This is an International Trade Fair for shoe makers, traders, makers of leather/artificial leather/ shoe components/ shoe accessories etc. A shoe that is praised with having classical Budapest leather traits means that it is a quality shoe as the best shoe making can be found in Budapest.
In addition to the quality, Clae is also committed to designing shoes with style and detailed finishing.
This Whitman model will have several colorways. The picture that is available shows the navy blue colorway. It has nice strips of borders with details like machine stitches and punctured hole patterns. I like this classical design because it is clean and neat.
A Bathing Ape – Bapesta 88By SneakerFreak on January 4th, 2008 | 1 CommentA new sneaker style is being released from A Bathing Ape as part of their Spring/Summer 2008 collection. The Bapesta 88 is a classic Hi-Top that features old school styling rather than a mod look.
This sneaker is being released in white, black, brown, navy and red colorways. The shoes are simple, yet different than most new styles you see on the market right now. They feature a stitched leather upper with a safari-like print used in the trim and toe.
The Bape shooting star logo covers the back of the heel, plus a small version of the logo is on the toe. I prefer the all white version or the black/white colorway pictured above. However, they are all similar – so it will just depend on your personal color preference.
These are available at Bape retailers now. You can get them at
Cliff Edge for about $320. First released back in 1990, the Nike Air Structure Triax 91 immediately became an iconic shoe. Since initial release it has never been available – until now. Combined with the Nike Footbridge technology with the Air unit but the real feature that snapped necks was the infrared accents on the instep. The original Colorway of the Nike Air Structure has a classic shape made of smooth black/grey suede, white mesh accents and the lovely teal swoosh. At the heel you can find the infrared Nike stitching.
