With the NBA mid-season point just a few games away, many of the Nike athletes will be switching up their shoes. Actually some have already done so.

The Nike Air Flight Windmill is one of the shoes that many NBA players will be wearing on the court for the rest of the season. Additionally, these shoes will be featured at the NBA All-Star Weekend Dunk Contest in New Orleans next month. The shoes are part of the Nike Hyperflight family and feature the patented Zoom technology and a forefoot lock-down strap.

There will be several Player Exclusive (PE) editions of the Nike Air Flight Windmill released. The Vince Carter version above will be launched at the House of Hoops in Harlem on January 19.

The pair of Nike Dunk Highs shown above began life with a simple red/black colorway recognizable to fans of the Chicago Bulls. The owner of these Dunk Highs felt the need to add silver paint to the shows to add his own flavor. I have a hunch that the paint job was a way to get rid of the silver paint rather than enhance the quality of the shoes.

I like the red/black colorway of the unblemished Nike Dunk Highs. When I saw the paint job, I thought the technique was fine but the use of silver seemed too blunt for such a nice pair of shoes. Customizers need to think of their paint brush as a wand and not a sledgehammer as they change someone else’s design. The silver is applied too freely on the heel and border to the toe box to be considered a stroke of artistic flourish.

This customizer needs to learn that subtelty is key for most custom jobs. A silver swoosh with the red and black colorway would have been fantastic. The use of silver laces as a complement to the swoosh would have been a nice cherry on the cake. I hope that a) these shoes were his to mess around with or b) his client asked for silver. If there is a third option, I hope the designer learns his lesson the next time around.

New York’s Michael K. has collaborated with Reebok to create the Insta Pump Fury “Classics Villains” Pack.

These four shoes are inspired by comic villains – Green Goblin (Marvel/Spiderman), Sinestro (DC/Green Lantern), Harley Quinn (DC/Batman), and Galactus (Marvel/Fantastic Four).

The sneakers feature the color schemes from the villains’ costumes, plus interesting fabrics and textures, including mesh, patent, pebbled leather and Neoprene.

My favorite pair is definitely the Harley Quinn, which features slick black patent leather combined with pink and grey. These shoes may be a little bit gaudy but they will definitely leave a big impression.

These shoes are very limited, only 60 pairs of each colorway are available. They are available now at NYC’s Michael K. and Active Warehouse.

If you are a big Mike Bibby fan … and I mean a huge fan, you might want to spring for the Air Jordan IX Mid Bibby PE.This slick white black colorway was never released to the public, of course, but you can find a pair of size 9’s from Air-Randy.

These shoes look pretty sweet with the BIBBY in red on the back. However, they are priced at $2,000. I’m not sure that I’d ever drop $2K on a pair of shoes. But if I was going to do it, these wouldn’t be it.
