  • Aprix Casual Shoes Hit the Scene
By on January 25th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

    aprix1.jpg

There is a new casual sneaker maker on the market called Aprix. The name is taken from the word Grand Prix which shows the unconventional approach to sneaker design by this new company. Instead of hopping into the saturated athletic shoe market, founders Brendon Bebanzien, Skiny and Spoon Singh are using their unique experiences to create a casual shoe.

I could not find a style name for the shoe above but it is designed for yachters, racers and golfers. The interior of the shoe is lined with leather in stark contrast to the simple canvas exterior. The gum sole allows Aprix customers to harken back to a time long ago when athletic shoes were much simpler. A few touches of color on the toe box, heel and the brand tab next to the top eyelets set these shoes apart from bland offerings by competitors like K-Swiss.

Converse Black Fives Pro Leather - Century Pack

The Converse Pro Leather debuted in 1976 and was worn by some of the game’s best players. This new edition of the Pro Leather is a tribute to the Black Fives, the black players who played in the racially segregated basketball era.

As part of the Converse 100th Anniversary, three original models have been created to make the Converse Black Fives Pro Leather Century Pack. These three shoes include the Pro Leather 1976 (pictured above), the All Star Revolution and the 1933 Rens All Star.

These old school sneakers are available right now at various Converse retailers, as well as the Black Fives online shop. The Pro Leather 1976 is priced at $200 with the other shoes in a similar price range. The All Star Revolution is $175 and the 1933 Rens All Star is $150. If you want all three shoes, you can save a little money by purchasing them together in the Century Pack Collection for $485.

These shoes are packed in a collector’s wooden box. Watch this video to learn more about the Century Pack.

  • Nike Terminators & Vintage Runner for Fall 2008 – Capsule Show

    Nike Terminators Fall 2008

The Nike Terminators have the high cut, while the Nike Vintage Runners have the low cut.

There are 4 in this pack of new Terminators. The white/green colorway is cool. It reflects the coming spring season with the fresh green color. I like the two greens used in the accents and the shoe lace. This is a shoe for the spring climate as the toe box has holes for ventilation.

The beige Terminator is interesting as the shoe laces are in a shocking, contrasting color of red. It makes the shoe look very good. I like this pair the best among these 4 pairs of Terminators.

The red coloray Terminator has a special shoe strap across the ankle. Its accents are in silver-grey and blends well with the red colorway. The last Terminator is this pack is the silver colorway. This also has a shoe strap and its accents are in red and black.

The Vintage Runners are slightly more colorful. There are 3 colorways – grey, beige and purple. The purple colorway is the most striking as it has the orange colored Nike swoosh.  The swoosh in the runners extend back into the backstab of the shoe. I like the grey pair because the soothing colors blend nicely.

  • Greedy Genius Apache

    Greedy Genius Apache

The Greedy Genius Apache was first previewed at last year’s Project trade show in Vegas. This new model will be released within the next month as part of the more exclusive GEO GREEDY PRVLG Collection for Spring.

The Apache takes inspiration from the Air Jordan era of the 1980’s and 1990’s. This model resembles the Jordan 5. These shoes feature a white upper that combines a variety of interesting textures and colors, including yellow, blue, hot pink and grey.

The multiple colors are used throughout but are not large, overpowering blocks of color. Look for them from Greedy Genius in February. Via Freshness
