Nike Craig Stecyk/Lance Mountain Blazer SB is a special shoe. Craig Stecyk is the shoe designer that worked with Dogtown, Zephyr, Juxtapoz and Arkitip. This shoe is made of orange colored nubuck, suede and has other nice features.

This sneaker looks clean and classic with its uniform color on its upper. The off white shoe lace is a bright contrast against the orange colored leathers. The tip of the tongue has a tag in lighter orange. Nike in black letters is printed on the tag. The tag is in fabric, with tiny white dots that form texture for the tag. These dots also appear on the black letters. The tongue looks like it is of nubuck leather. The Nike swoosh is a lighter shade of orange.

The inner sole is orange colored and has a zig zag pattern of purple colored lines. There is a separate line of tiny machine-like holes that follow the purple lines. The backtab of the heel has embroidery of a graphic that looks like a rectangle face with two rows of teeth. This graphic looks like a skull. The midsole is special with rough, raised surface that gives a textured look. This shoe will be available in the Nike stores soon. I’m impressed with this design.

A few days ago, Myairshoes showed you an Obama-inspired pair of Nike Dunk sneakers made by Virtual Mo to show the world his support for presidential candidate Barack Obama. This time, Virtual Mo has designed a pair of shoes for the Republican nominee, John McCain just to be equitable. The shoes, made by San Antonio Shoes, fit McCain perfectly as it is very mature-looking.

  • Rocko’s Modern Life Custom Nikes
By on August 21st, 2008 | No Comments Comments

Self Made Apparel made a nice splash on Nike Talk recently by posting custom Nikes themed on “Rocko’s Modern Life.” The designer is a fan of Nickelodeon cartoons judging by his last pair of customs, a pair of Nike Air Max 90s based on the show “AHHHH! Real Monsters.” These custom shoes were found on the Nike Talk posted linked here.

The designer found these used Nike trainers at a discount store in the early stages of thinking about a “Rocko’s Modern Life” shoe. He opted for the trainers instead of a new pair of Dunks after a bolt of inspiration. The result of this artistic epiphany (and a week’s worth of work) is a great pair of customs for cartoon fans.

Self Made Apparel used the photo at the very bottom of this post as the inspiration for these Nike customs. Each Nike swoosh features the titular wallaby with his eyes bugging out in surprise. The rest of the shoe features a blue/purple colorway that matches Rocko’s printed shirt along with some pink paint to represent the character’s fur.

  • Lewis Leathers x Comme Des Garcons Hi Top Sneakers

    Sold at: Colette.

Lewis Leathers and Comme Des Garcons have collaborated to design a special footwear. Lewis Leathers originates from Britain’s classic motorcycle jacket purveyors. Comme des Garcons is from Japan. These two companies chose to work on a high top shoe with the All Star silhouette.

The toe box is in smooth black leather. It is shaped like a semi-circle. The main body of the shoe has regular perforations on its leather. The row and column of shoe lace holes extends all the way to the tip of the high top. The holes are reinforced with ring holders and the shoe lace is black colored. The inner lining of the shoe is red colored. The top of the side of the shoe has a large oval shaped piece of leather. The brand name, Lewis Leathers, is printed in gold letters on this oval panel of leather.

The base of the heel has a shoe strap, complete with a shiny, silver colored buckle and pierced holes on the strap of leather. The midsole had 2 strips of white lines that are sandwiched between the black layers of the midsole. The midsole at the toe cap is a separate strip of leather with treads and this is attached to form a cap around the midsole of the front of the shoe. The special feature is the zip at the base of the heel. This is a good looking sneaker for casual wear.

  • Aqua Zebra Blazer Mids
    By on August 20th, 2008 | 1 Comment1 Comment Comments

I was a big fan of D@ Prince Custom’s first customs that I wrote about earlier this week (linked here). I am not sure I can say the same thing for his sophomore effort which was a pair of Nike Blazer Mids called “Aqua Zebra.”

These pictures were found at D@ Prince Customs’ latest post on Nike Talk found in this link. There is little rhyme or reason to the Aqua Zebras with colors and design elements thrown all over the place. The designer used crazy elements like a zebra print swoosh, turquoise background and glittery shapes to dazzle the eye. The result of these efforts, however, is a pair of Blazers that look like a school craft project.

The basic turquoise/purple colors used by D@ Prince Customs would have been sufficient to turn these Blazers into a nice pair of custom sneakers. I am a fan of the hand-painted black brand written above the outsole though this is not enough to redeem these shoes. I can see the designer working hard to get a fresh design on the market but the Aqua Blazers fell a bit short.
