  • Thundercats Air Force Ones
    By on November 18th, 2008 | 1 Comment1 Comment Comments

As a kid growing up in the 1980s, one of my favorite cartoons was Thundercats. I had Lion-O’s sword as well as a few of my favorite characters like Panthro and Snarf in the toy box. Hektik Kicks is celebrating this classic cartoon with a pair of Thundercats Air Force Ones. These customs were found on the Hektik Customsnkr.com blog linked here.

The red/black colorway is a nod to the opening sequence of Thundercats including the Thundercats logo. Hektik Kicks recreates this logo in white on the middle panel to stand out against the red and black colorway. The use of white also draws the eye to the white outsole before viewers come back to Hektik’s awesome work.

The designer shows his high level of skill and Thundercats expertise with a pair of highly detailed drawings on the outside edges. The left shoe shows the mystical villain Mumm-ra complete with loose white bandages and red cape. The protagonist Lion-O is drawn on the right shoe to counteract the evil Mumm-ra for Thundercats fans. I like the inclusion of Lion-O’s sword in the drawing to show where the character draws his strength.

  • Nike Air Force 180 – Gray – Obsidian – Red
By on November 18th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

Here are some pictures of the latest Nike Air Force 180. The Air Force 180 was worn by Charles Barkely in the 1992 Olympic Games. Although the Air Force 180 is one of Nike’s classics it doesn’t exactly generate lines around the block. Featuring a super soft thick grain grey leather upper these shoes draw most of its color from the midsole, laces and eyelits. The coolest thing about these 180’s is that they feature a clear air unit, making it visible from any 180 degree angle. Now available at Grip Footwear, limited to five pairs. Dont sleep.

  • Nike Air Force 1 World Booba
By on November 17th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

    Source of image : here.

Nike Air Force 1 and the French rapper, Booba, have worked together to create this shoe. This red shoe has an upper with overlaying graphics. This shoe will be released on Dec. 6. The quantity is limited to 176 pairs and sold exclusively at Booba’s boutique Boulbi & Co. in Boulogne.

The toe box is in smooth leather and the graphics provide an interesting pictorial look. The red shoe lace over a white tongue looks good. The tip of the tongue has the number 09. The midsection of the shoe is almost covered in the pattern. The Nike swoosh is in plain red leather or else it would become hidden in the upper. The inner lining is red, while the inner sole is white with a graphic. The same graphic is on the outsole.

Booba’s logo is on the lace lock. The white midsole complements the tongue and inner sole. This sneaker looks good. The strongest feature is the overlaying graphics. The shoe is made classy and stylish for going out. Although it is of a red color, the shoe carries enough sophistication to be used as a formal shoe too.

  • Captain America/Incredible Hulk Air Force Ones
By on November 17th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

Hektik Kicks was highlighted recently on MyAirShoes for a pair of Tazmanian Devil customs. The designer’s previous project was a pair of custom Air Force Ones modeled on two of Marvel Comics’ most beloved characters. The Captain America/Incredible Hulk Forces were found on Hektik’s Customsnkr.com blog linked here.

The detail work on these comic-inspired Forces are impressive for a young designer. The right shoe features a fantastic depiction of the Incredible Hulk during one of his rages, screaming out at anyone who looks at these customs. The left shoe shows Captain America holding up his red/white/blue shield in defense of his fellow superheroes.

Hektik thought outside of the box when adding some finishing touches to these Forces. The Air logo on the outsole matches the color of the superhero; the right shoe has a green Air logo while the left shoe logo matches Captain America’s deep blue uniform. These colors are matched further to the interior swoosh to put the cherry on top of these customs. I am a huge fan of Hektik’s work on these shoes because the characters stand out against a simple white background rather than competing with other design elements.
