  • LiquiPhly Air Force Ones
By on January 9th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

As I was flipping through Facebook yesterday, I was looking at pages for designers who I have overlooked in the past. One such designer, Stay Phly Customs, caught my eye with a work of sneaker art called the LiquiPhly Air Force Ones. Stay Phly notes that these AF1s were made for a client named C Bells in a men’s size 9.5.

The purple/blue/yellow colorway on the LiquiPhly AF1s show that Stay Phly is not playing his cards close to the vest. These customs feature the client’s name in purple with yellow outlining on the left heel, only one step used to separate these customs from others on the market. The designer wrote out Stay Phly on the inside edges of both shoes to leave his mark on these hot customs.

I am a big fan of the paint dripping effect used by Stay Phly to live up to the LiquiPhly name. You can see in the pictures below that the designer carefully let paint drip down from the toe boxes and eyelets to create a unique look without making these shoes sloppy. If you want to drop Stay Phly a line and get your own customs, check out his Facebook page linked here.

  • Nike Terminator “Lux Pack”
By on January 8th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

The Nike Terminator Lux Pack consists of two shoes. There is a white colorway for the Nike Terminator Hi Lux and a black colorway for the Nike Terminator Lo Lux. Look for these shoes at Nike.

The Nike Terminator Hi Lux is all white. The toe box is surrounded by a mudguard with double stitching at the seam. The white shoe lace ends with a cap in gold color. The midsection is divided into panels by using machine thread stitching. The Nike swoosh slopes down gracefully, following the slope of the heel. The backtab at the back of the heel has a small hook. The midsole is white to continue the clean look and it ends with the gum sole. The tipoff the tongue has a gold colored Nike Tag.

The Nike Terminator Lux Lo is all black. There is a difference in the types of leather used. The mudguard has a grainy kind of leather that also has variations in its color. The midsole is kept white as a good contrast. The black shoe lace has a contrast with the leather shoe as the different materials own properties which make their colors different. I prefer the Nike Terminator Lo Lux in black colorway. (Images)

  • Rainbow Nike Dunks
By on January 8th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

Yassir Rais posted this photo of his latest custom Nike Dunks at his Customsnkr.com blog linked here. The designer will be posting additional photos soon but this first peek at the Rainbow Nike Dunks looks good. We have seen a lot of rainbow-inspired Nikes on MyAirShoes but these Dunks approach the rainbow from a new angle.

Instead of creating a kaleidoscope effect of every color on the rainbow, Yassir Rais relied on a more restrained depiction of the rainbow. The designer started with lighter colors just above the outsole including light blue and orange. These colors fade gradually as your eye moves to the eyelets and Nike swoosh, eventually giving way to deep red and indigo. The middle panel is kept white to divide one end of the rainbow from the other.

Yassir Rais was successful in creating subtle color changes on the Rainbow Nike Dunks through detailed fading. While I would have been tempted to overrun the toe box with blue paint, his commitment to matching the plain middle panel with the toe box shows that he is a skilled sneaker artist. The Rainbow Nike Dunks may not feature every color in the rainbow but it shows the progression from light to dark in a simple but stylish way.

    Nike Spring/Summer 2009 Air Max Lights - #1

Part of Nike’s collection coming in Spring/Summer 2009, these two Air Max Lights aren’t flashy but they are a solid release. The two different colorways each have a classic, old school feel, while using a variety of textures.

The more laidback version has a colorway of black, white and grey. The black is used on the side panels and on the tongue tab, while grey and white make up the rest of the shoe. The other shoe is more vibrant and features a red, black and white colorway. You will likely be able to find these shoes in the next few weeks where Nikes are sold. Via High Snobiety.
