You can always expect the unexpected when it comes to Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook’s fashion and footwear.

We knew that Westbrook would wear the beloved Air Jordan XX8 SE in his much-anticipated return from injury last night, but this time, Jordan Brand incorporated an accent that declared yesterday a great day for another person as well. Westbrook wore his go-to white and black Air Jordan XX8 SE PE, but this edition comes complete with pink laces and an imprinted message on the outsole that reads, “HAPPY BDAY MOM.” Westbrook also added, “Happy B-Day Mom…Why Not?” using a sharpie on the toe area. UNLV guard Kevin Olekaibe has been a College Kicks On Court regular all season long, but his most recent sneaker showing was the first of its kind. Swapping out his regular Air Jordan XXs, the Runnin’ Rebel donned an all-red, light-up Air Jordan 3 “UNLV” Custom in his team’s nationally televised game against New Mexico. This one of a kind Air Jordan 3 by samsilva63 features unique detailing in the form of Olekaibe’s personal silhouette revising the Jumpman symbols on the heels, as well as the LED lights installed in the visible Air pockets. Taking customs on court to new heights, this sighting was the first of its kind on any level.

Other than UNLV literally lighting up the court, collegiate teams around the entire country donned notable sneakers in key conference games. North Carolina upset Duke in Jordan 6 Rings and PEs, while Boston College gave Syracuse its first loss in Under Armour silhouettes.
