For the new year, New Balance is kicking things off with new packs. Revisiting the 1600, a dynamic duo of “Black and Purple” has been brought forth. Always the surpporters of suede, the brand brings back the smooth material, set alongside panels of nubuck and mesh for a casually-inclined set. Near identical, the pairs vary only in the accents, trading off between black and purple hues. Stay tuned to Nice Kicks for when this pack of New Balance 1600s is due to drop.

Following his wear of the “Nubuck” Air Jordan 12′s in Monday’s game against the Heat, Nate Robinson saw fit to continue the streak of Carolina-colored Jordans in last night’s matchup against the 76ers. Robinson took to the court in his first game of the new year wearing the “For the Love of the Game” Air Jordan 9s. Released in limited quantities in 2010, the Air Jordan 9 served as part of the “For the Love of the Game” pack created to commemorate the inaugural World Basketball Festival. Elsewhere, iDs and PEs dominated the night from Monta Ellis’ Jordan Spizike iDs to Austin Rivers’ Mi adidas Custom D Rose 4s. Russian designer Gosha Rubchinskiy has teamed up with Vans to deliver a fresh iteration of the Vans Old Skool. In this special collaboration with the Russian artist, the iconic sneaker silhouette from Vans is rendered with a premium leather upper in black with a reflective white sidestripe. Complementing the leather is the suede featured on the sneaker’s toe box and heel. Other details of the sneaker are the black and white laces, the logo placed on the in-sole and the contrast stitching on the upper. Breaking the rather monotonous black and white scheme is the gum rubber used for the sole.
