This July, My 5 on Nice Kicks is focusing on store owners and managers at some of the best boutiques in the biz. We start in the Windy City, with Regular Ol Ty of LEADERS 1354. Besides helping make LEADERS one of the best boutiques and brands in the sneaker realm over the past decade (they celebrate 11 years in August), Ty is also well known for his distinct style and deep/diverse collection of kicks. After over twenty years, two colorways of Patrick Ewing’s own shoe are making a comeback. The Focus features the Ewing name on the tongue, and the model name on the ankle strap. The Nike SB Stefan Janoski “Tiger” brings to a textile upper a tiger print with a difference; this feline’s most likely a peace-loving Beatnik from the sixties and flashes red, yellow, blue, orange, green shades with black stripes that mimic a tiger’s camouflage. The Nike SB P-Rod 7 ‘Sail/Black-University Red’ is a performance skating sneaker that packs great looks as well.
