The adidas Mutombo – Black – Purple has that unmistakable imprint of Africa; that echo which transcends centuries and manifests itself in art, sport, culture…through the men that once called and still call the continent home. This color combination is a re-release. When first released, the sneaker was a tribute to NBA center Dikembe Mutombo and his country of Congo.

A custom make that well and truly cracks it; we’re talking of the New Balance 574 “Brooklyn Dodgers” By PMK Customs. PMK Customs have taken this much-loved New Balance silhouette and produced a masterpiece for DJ Clark Kent.

Baseball leather and accompanying stitching have been used on these kicks. Ebbets Field graphics painted on the heel and toecap area stamp the Brooklyn connection on these. A rare NB with no suede on it. The Brooklyn Dodgers “B” sits on the tongue as well as on the premium custom box in which the sneakers are set to arrive. The box also carries DJ Clark Kent’s name.

Numeric, the recently introduced skateboarding silhouette from New Balance, gets two new colorways. I don’t know why New Balance has chosen a low-profile release of the first skateboarding silhouettes that the company is releasing ever since its inception. These kicks feature a more or less traditional New Balance design, a little dowdy if you ask me, by comparison to what Vans and Nike come up with.

And I don’t know the skateboarders whose inputs were taken at the design stage, if at all. But whatever, New Balance has taken the plunge and we applaud it for this step.

These are suede and mesh low cuts that we show you in the images. No information on the release date as yet.
