Competition is a beautiful thing – well, sometimes.  Other times, new technological improvements catch many of us off guard no matter how great they are.  Earlier today Adidas unveiled a new technology, Adidas Springblade, that provides a whole new look and take on cushioning.  Have a flip through a quick list of shoe technologies that turned heads – for better or worse.

The Miami Heat celebrated their second consecutive NBA Championship with a huge parade through the streets of South Beach today. LeBron James also celebrated his second consecutive NBA Finals MVP. Many sneaker fans, even those who are not Miami fans, anticipate the release of the Nike LeBron X “Championship” Pack. The two-time champion debuted the Nike Air Max LeBron X Low “Championship” during the parade’s culmination at the American Airlines Arena. The shoe features solid black accented by a Miami-inspired palm tree motif and a glow-in-the-dark sole. Does seeing the LeBron X Low Championship on feet change your opinion of them?

We have learned that sneaker nicknames can derive from a variety of sources. Everything from a local delicacy to an obscure movie reference can inspire a company to create sneakers. In the latest installment of Sneaker Nicknames Explained, we cover the spectrum of sneaker motivations, including a motivational speaker.

Sweden-based Sneakersnstuff is no stranger to collaboration. In particular, they have developed a strong relationship with Reebok. The Sneakersnstuff x Reebok Kamikaze II “Polkagris” is the latest of the 12-shoe installment between the two entities. Polkagris is a handmade Swedish candy stick that is a favorite among the locals. Traditional polkagris candy is red and white, hence the shoe’s colorway and design.

Built for higher energy return, the adidas Springblade features individually tuned blades designed to propel runners. 16 blades are composed of a highly elastic, high tech polymer that is angled forward for high energy return in any environment. In addition, each blade is tuned to provide support in each phase of a runner’s stride. The technology was tested by the adidas Innovation Team and is said to be seven times more temperature resistant than adidas models with a standard EVA midsole. We first saw images of the size? x Nike Air Max Light “Urban Safari” a little under a month ago. Today, thanks to our friends over at size?, we now bring you our own detail images of their Mowabb inspired Air Max Light. Premium tan colored suede matches the tan mesh and laces on the upper. Hits of orange brighten up the understated color scheme. The upper is capped off by royal blue splashed on the ankle collar, inner lining, and upper eyelets. The beauty is in the details, as the Swoosh branding features tonal Safari print. Grey speckled design and crispy white coloring shares space on the midsole. The “Urban Safari” Air Max Lights have already released, but you can still cop a few select sizes via size?.
