Perhaps the most exciting releases in the new year have been by Reebok with adidas not far behind with its many retro releases. The Reebok Scrimmage Mid “Dolphins” has 90s written all over it. It presents a killer color combination with a perforated aqua blue upper, orange accents, and a speckled midsole.

Miami Dolphins colors, those are. These kicks, BTW, had their moments under the sun and not exactly unloved. In fact, they are a much-loved pair of sneakers. Ask NFL running-back Emmit Smith and the Chicago White Sox’s Frank Thomas, they’ll tell you. Available now, take a look at the images and tell us what you feel about them.

Here we have for you the second installment of a collaboration between Diemme and Vans. Expect great leather creations to star in the Off the Wall kicks thrown up here. The  Vans Sk8-Hi and the Vans Slip-On have been chosen for the honors. They have been rechristened the Vans Montebelluna Hi LX and the Vans Montebelluna Lo LX.

Both feature two colorways — black and navy. And both look classy with white on the midsole and laces on the Hi; the Lo is a slip-on.

It’s a simple-looking design but no doubt difficult to execute; to get that vibe right is not easy even with the premium materials that Diemme has used. The flag detailing on the heel of the high tops gives away the Italian connection. Keep an eye out for further posts. These kicks are set for an April release.

The Keith Haring x Reebok Part 2 is a collection that aims to reprise the success of the first collaboration. It is set for a release on April 1st. Three different styles from the Reebok Classic stable make up this collection. These are the Reebok Classic Leather Mid, Reebok Freestyle Hi, and Reebok Workout Plus. The artist has created iconic characters in his distinctive style. And these sneakers feature one such character — Antic Man.

The character is molded on the upper of the Classic Leather Mid and printed on the other two silhouettes. Red, white, and black are the dominant colorways on these silhouettes. The mid has blue and yellow appearing on it.

If you happen to be in Omotesando, Japan; be sure to catch the Keith Haring retrospective hosted by Reebok Classic at the  BA-TSU Gallery on April 5th – 7th.

The Nike Barkley Posite Max “Eggplant” was first heard of in the last months of December last year. And these are kicks that seriously elicit the adjective “sick”; yes, these are cool and their coolness quotient jumps with this color combination. We get a Foamposite and nubuck upper with a glow-in-the dark outsole. And the catchy “not a role model” spelled on the outsole, taken, if you may remember, from a famous Charles Barkley commercial of the nineties.

Okay, sneaker action shifts from the beaches of Hawaii to the great beaches of Rio and why not, there are only so many things you can do with Hawaiian beach prints. We are talking about the Nike Sportswear Air Max EM “Beaches of Rio” Pack which consists of Engineered Mesh editions of the Air Max 1, 90, 95 and 97. These, if you remember, came out in the first month of the new year.

Engineered mesh brings to the table lighter footwear that is more flexible breathable. Its use on the Air Max silhouettes has given us a perfectly agreeable marriage between classic designs and new functional materials.

The SPoT X Nike SB Dunk Low X Lance Mountain is now available in retail stores worldwide. Lance Mountain and his signature doughboy print pay homage to the Skatepark of Tampa – SPoT. These are limited-edition sneakers and are filled with detailing that makes it a connoisseur’s delight. The sneakers feature custom insoles that carry a special SPoT 20th anniversary logo. Metallic silver detailing on the Swoosh with mint borders and mint text branding is discernible when you take a look at the image.
