February has seen several “Packs” released and we present you one more. This one is the adidas Originals “Neon” Running Pack. Neon may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but adidas seems to have pulled it off; in fact, there is something quite New Balance-like in the appearance of these sneakers. May be it’s the suede and mesh combo on the low-cut silhouette that makes me feel this way.

The sneakers that appear in this pack are the  silhouettes such as ZX500, Phantom, and Torsion Allegra. And all feature the path-breaking running shoe related inventions of the 90s such as the  ZX heel counter and the Torsion bar cut-out.

The Vans “Brushed Leather” pack carries a stamp of class and consists of the brand’s well-known silhouettes such as the Vans Old Skool, Vans Era, Vans Sk8-Hi, and Vans Slip-On. The Nike Air Base 2 VNTG in Black / Varsity Maize colorway harks back to another time. Classic color blocking on these retro kicks is reminiscent of the days when it was cool to step out in such sneakers for a game, a jog, or stay indoors without having to bother about competing with the Joneses on hyperfuse, air max, etc, etc. These technologies are great, not complaining but every once in a while you enjoy seeing a silhouette that has stood the test of time, is no-frills, and costs less than 100 dollars.

Ever so often we come across news that makes us wonder about the kind of creative input that goes into the making and releasing of a new pair. The Nike SB Hunter Dunk low goes back nearly a decade; and now some pics of a sample have hit the net. Of course, the sample never really came to fruition. And maybe with good reason.
