Debuted in 1982 on the hardwood of the NBA on the feet of Moses Malone and Michael Cooper, the Nike Air Force 1 is one of the most legendary shoes ever made. With 30 years of success behind it, Nike is bringing the silhouette into the present and the future with the launch of the Nike Lunar Force 1. Last night in Los Angeles, several members of the media were invited to the Nike Vault for the introduction of the shoe. Hosted by Nick Huff from Hard Knock TV, the night was kicked off with a brief Q&A with legendary Los Angeles Laker Michael Cooper. Michael talked about how the Air Force 1 was the first shoe he could play in that would last him up to 5 games at a time. His previous shoes would tear up after one game.
We also heard from George Labossiere, Sr Product Line Manager for Basketball and Nike Sportswear. George stressed how important it was to stay true to the legacy of the Air Force 1 with the Lunar Force 1. Things like the look of the shoe from the toe down angle as well as the story telling that has happened with the shoe. Since its debut, the Nike Air Force 1 has told some incredible stories and Nike plans to continue that trend with the launch of the Lunar Force 1. We were even given a look at a few upcoming models that used different construction for the upper and new materials. From nubuck, to elephant print, to safari print, the Nike Lunar Force 1 has plenty of options ahead of it. The Nike Lunar Force 1 will release in limited quantities on 12.12.12 in select Nike Sportswear retail locations globally.
