The Nike Air Force 1 “Downtown” can perhaps lay claim to being the quirkiest member of the family. It’s the original “Uptown” turned on its head.

It’s lightweight, that goes without saying, and features an encapsulated Air-sole heel unit and discreet Phylon midsole. The cup-sole gives these kicks durability while Phylon gives it stability and impact absorption. The Downtown boasts a sleek silhouette and a much muted appearance than the “Uptown”.

A perfect pair to take forward the legacy of the AF1 on its thirtieth anniversary. Take a look at the image. That’s the Downtown in all its blinding white perforated leather glory.

Let’s take a look at one of the members of the Family of Force. This one goes under the moniker “Comfort” and by the looks of it and from what we have read it fulfills the name given to it. Comfort, of course, being one of the three non-negotiable features that the all members of the family are supposed to adhere to. The other two being lightweight and breathability.

The upper has been constructed from suede and leather. Lunarlon foam insoles add to the comfort. Also the regular AF1 fittings are present, these include metal dubrés, circular pivot points and crown-like vamp perforations. No word on whether these will be regular releases or collector’s items. No word on when we can expect them to hit the market. But stay tuned, you know why.

This is another piece of big news that arrives from the world of sneakers. Remember the earlier news that broke a few hours ago? That was about New Balance going the skateboarding sneakers way with Numeric and now we have the Air Force 1 going the “Family” way with the Nike Air Force 1 – Family of Force . adidas teamed with Swedish retailer, Sneakernstuff, to come up with the exotic SNS x adidas Consortium WMNS ZX 700. Drawing inspiration from the reptilian textiles that many designer handbags don, the sneaker features black suede and black animal embossed leather. The leather has a snakeskin feel to it, and each pair is made unique by varying patterns. White on the inner lining and midsole provide pop before black reappears on the outsole. This comfortable, stylish offering is available in limited quantities now at select adidas retailers, including hanon.

“Shaded Blue” styling inspires the Air Jordan 4 “Brother of Mars” Custom.
