At the beginning of the week, we relayed to you the shocking news of four more Foamposites releasing later this year. You may be excited about this news, but we’re willing to bet you are not as ecstatic as Harlem artist and longtime Foamposite fan Smoke DZA.

“I’m from Harlem, and we were wearing Foamposites in ’97,” said DZA. “We were running around with those in high school. They were like cars on our feet because everybody would be like, ‘What the f*ck are those?’ Those were the first $200 sneakers. Matter of fact, they were $197.98. That was the price.”

DZA, a Celebrity Sneaker Stalker regular, has expressed his undeniable love for this timeless silhouette and the many colorways it has surfaced in, but unlike others, the aesthetics are not the only drawing card for Smoke DZA.

“They really fit my feet,” noted DZA. “Once you wear Foams and break them in, they adjust to your feet – literally. That’s why Penny wore them while playing basketball. He felt like those were the most comfortable sneakers because they fit to the shape of your foot.”

Smoke DZA: “I’m wearing my Galaxys a lot. Nobody really has them, and they go with anything I want to wear. I’m not a guy that’s always trying to match sneakers with my attire. It’s so many pieces on a sneaker that I can match any piece of my garments with because I wear a lot of Rugbys and a lot of Ralph Lauren, so the color contrast is already there for that. The “Galaxy” Foams is definitely one of my everyday sneakers.”
