By on February 23rd, 2012 | No Comments Comments

We have seen a number of classic ’90s kicks return to the courts, such as the “Concord” 11s and the Air Jordan 4 “Cement”, this season. Last night, our Kicks On Court column spotted a classic Nike Basketball sneaker in D.C. Washington Wizards forward Trevor Booker became the first player to lace up the Nike Air Max Tempo retro. If you recall, players like Scottie Pippen and Kevin Garnett rocked this shoe consistently in the ’90s. The Air Max Tempo is available now at Nike’s online store. View these kicks plus more, worn by Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony and others, below.

  • Name-Dropping: The Best “Signature” Sneakers By Association
By on February 23rd, 2012 | No Comments Comments

Sometimes, a sneaker carries signature weight without official tagging. Case in point, this weekend’s Nike Air Flight One retro. The Penny Hardaway endorsed sneakers preceded his signature line but are still referred to as “Pennys” in the street. They’re not the only ones though as kicks worn by Kobe Bryant, Sir Charles, Scottie Pippen, and many others picked up name recognition without box branding. We look back at the best basketball kicks that should’ve been signatures and the players they are forever tied to.

    Tim Duncan

Tim Duncan might not have put the ‘fun’ in fundamental, but he did put on for the Foamposite franchise. Prior to getting signatures from the Swoosh and later adidas, Timmy laced up the Nike Total Air Foamposite Max. The long name was shortened by consumers to the “Duncans”, and the name has since stuck.
