  • Bring ‘em Back: Nike Air Up 94 Scottie Pippen PE
By on January 22nd, 2012 | No Comments Comments

Back when PE was shorthand for a Chuck D fronted group, Scottie Pippen was workin’ it out in the best from the Flight Camp. A go-to in his arsenal was the Nike Air Up 94. A dope design was made hot by Nike and Pip with personalized number tagging and All-NBA endorsement. The sneaker embodies Scottie’s run as the star player during MJ’s absence and in many ways paved the way for his solid signature line. Nike, do we even have to say it? Bring ‘em back!

  • This Day In Sneaker History: Black Mamba Scores 81 in Nike Zoom Kobe I
By on January 22nd, 2012 | No Comments Comments

I just remember we were down 16 points to a bad Raptors team and we had just lost I think to Houston the game before and it was just kind of doom and gloom. We needed to win and I just got hot.” – Kobe Bryant on his 81-point performance

We took you back a year ago with our recently published “In Retrospect” installment, but today’s “This Day In Sneaker History” edition goes further back in time and highlights one of the better individual NBA performances of all time. Six years ago, Kobe Bryant recorded the NBA’s second highest individual point total by scoring a whopping 81 points in a comeback win against the Toronto Raptors. Many basketball fans may remember some of Kobe’s jaw-dropping moves in that game or him scoring 55 points in the second half alone, yet, we, as sneaker enthusiasts, vividly recall the Black Mamba wearing the white, purple and black, Ken Link-designed Nike Zoom Kobe I. What do you specifically remember about this performance?
