Yesterday, the countdown clock ended and Jordan Brand revealed its big news. In unveiling the next generation of signatures for NBA superstars Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Dwyane Wade, JB introduced high performance kicks for every style of player, focusing on increasing wearers’ speed, verticality and explosiveness. In addition to giving the official debut of the Fly Wade II, Melo M8 and CP3.V, Jordan Brand held a summit in Beaverton, giving media members an in-depth look at the process behind designing each model, straight from the designers’ mouths. Check out everything that went down.

Jordan Brand Creative Director Andre Doxey:
On difference between Jordan CP 2′Quick and Jordan CP3.V
“The Podulon is located in the heel area and in the big toe area on the CP 2’Quick, but we decided to move the Podulon cushioning over onto the medial side, so that Paul can have a better responsiveness coming off his first step and also when he cuts.”

On Jordan CP3.V’s lightweight build
“We also have a soft wrap at the 80 position of the CP3.V. We actually contoured the foam, which allowed us to carve out some things. The CP 2’Quick is 13.5 ounces, but the CP3.V is only 12.5 ounces. So, we took care of lightweight propulsion and flight.”

On aesthetics and Flywire:
“The upper consists of Flywire. The whole goal here was to make this product look sexy. So, the Flywire upper gives it lightweight strength, and the 61 triangles represent CP’s grandfather, which is something we always incorporate in Paul’s products. That number represents his highest scoring game in high school when his grandfather passed.”

On Chris Paul-specific attributes:
“CP loves the Achilles pad for comfort, so that remains a constant in his shoes. We also incorporated a heel counter, which is also on the inside of the shoe. When you’re planting, the foot changes direction but the heel is actually stays aligned to the knee. So, the softness in the heel counter allows his ankle to decouple. He is able to change positions, with comfort, and then take off.”
