Junk art artist, Gabriel Dishaw loves to collect scrap and create Nike sculptures constructed from discarded materials such as glass, scrap metal, plastic, and wood. He specializes in high-end junk sculptures ranging from as small as figurine to larger than six feet tall. For the past years, Dishaw has showcased several Nike junk arts and he is back for this year’s highlight featuring the Nike Air Max+ 2011 Up-cycled.
Dishaw finally assembled his latest sculpture which resembles the Nike Air Max+ 2011 by converting waste material or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or a higher environmental value. This particular sculpture features braided steel lacing for superior lockdown, USB embedded in midsole for easy data transfer, heat sink materials used for quick dissipation of heat, rubber tubing for increased flexibility, integrated midsole circuitry for instant data transfer, and secondary mesh layer for increased stability and ventilation.
The copper-toned overlays perfectly match with the silver mesh layering and the green circuit board formed as Swoosh. It also brags a sole unit packed with colorful plastics in clear casing. Letter tiles finally form the word “UPCYCLED” on the heel.
