Fresh from Ryan McGinness’ Manhattan studio is a pair of reinvented Reebok Carston Mids. To discuss a little about the designer himself, Ryan McGinness, here is a brief background. McGinness is a New York-based artist who is known for his original extensive vocabulary of graphic drawings which use the visual language of public signage, corporate logos, and contemporary iconography. He creates paintings, sculptures, and environments concerned with the perceived value of forms. He also creates semantics of symbolic icons that bluntly explicates the common chaos in the vernacular that’s thrown at us in advertising, signage, and elsewhere every day.

With so much passion in arts, McGinness has welcomed a sneaker make-over in his studio by partnering with Reebok. Today, here is one of the products that McGinness has accomplished – a pair of Carston Mids dubbed as ‘Weekday’. The concept takes place by using black suede base with neon contrast stitching designed with permanent marker holders along the ankle and a zip closure at the center of the tongue using a colorful zipper. Ryan McGinness’ initials appeared in an embroidered form on the tongue and heel areas.

Expect for the two other more colorways, Gardening and V.I.P. to drop in the near future.

If you remember, Questlove’s inspirational sneaker pack which consists of four different Nike models has revealed the first pair earlier this week, which was the Nike Dunk High Strap. This all-red shoe decorated with white buttons and Questlove’s silhouette is a must-have this Valentine’s Day. As a follow-up to that, the second pair is now up in a standard Dunk High model.

The design of this shoe appears simple using yellow leather on the entire upper including the laces but with a twist of bright orange on the inside. A regular Nike tongue logo is applied giving the sole a match. Now for the Questo touch, we can see his silhouette embossed along the heel, a very humble sign that represents a great drummer’s success.

This release is now available at selected Nike retails in Japan while Questlove fans from across the US will have to wait for further notice.
