  • Adidas Originals Superstar ’80s – 60th Anniversary
By on March 17th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

Now is Adidas being too much? We’ve been speaking about some footwear being similar to jewelry and passing as items of luxury before. Adidas seems to have taken this concept seriously, and these shoes do sport six small diamonds between the signature three stripes, with Swarovsky crystal studded laces. Gem-shoes? Wow!

But if any of you will criticize this as a kind of misplaced extravagance, let’s remember the 60 years of excellence during which this German brand has been creating beautiful items of footwear for their followers. And the classical design of this sample doesn’t disappoint, the colorways, the stripes, the diamonds, all combine to create quite a masterpiece.

This pair is very limited in number, and we’re told that they are available at Xcitizm at the moment. Via Sneakerfreaker

  • Madfoot Kingston 2
By on March 16th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

Madfoot apparently believes that its shoes are so good that the owner, or at least his feet, will go mad with joy. Maybe the Madfoot Kingston 2 is a fitting choice for putting this assertion to the test.

These sneakers look casual, urban, and stylish. Not to disappoint Madfoot, but there’s little that looks mad about the pairs either. On the contrary, careful attention to detail, and good craftsmanship makes us suspect that they were the result of a long and diligent design process.

And what about the result? Perhaps the most obvious feature of the Kingston 2 is the colorways. Madfoot was very conservative and conventional in the choice of colors, but we cannot say that the result is a disappointment. There is beauty in this kind of simplicity.

The strong soles also make these sneakers ideal for outdoors activity. And outdoor activity should be where you can put your Madfoot to the test. How mad are they?  Check this, and you can comment here too.

    New Balance 420 - Metal-Infused
One of today’s finest shoes is the New Balance 420 though it is considered classic, but the enhancement that took place makes it more than a hit of yesteryears. The buttery soft full grain leather toe-box and side panel and the soft suede back panel gives a combination of classic and hype tune, but more interestingly, it has a metal-infused nylon that covers a part of the upper. The New Balance 420 comes in two colorways- the Beige/Brown and the Green/Purple, with $110 price tag on, and now available at New Balance retail outlets.

  • Nike Vandal Low – NYC Taxi – House of Hoops Exclusive
By on March 16th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

Wow! Superbly designed, and made for perfection, this is not just another token of success from Nike. Apart from the customary Nike excellence, it is the symbol of a culture, and the spirit of NYC that allows this pair to rise like a skyscraper among the creations and designs of competitors.

The obligatory white, yellow and black colors would have been boring at the hands of others, but the designers of Nike know how to use their palette like true artists. Not a single stroke of the brush is misplaced, not a single detail is too much or too less. We can only bow in reognition of such a spectacular achievement.

The checkerboard theme in black and white reminds us of the taxi motif and the carbon fibre. But, make no mistake, with or without the references, this is a powerful statement of perfectionism from Nike. The style, as always, is clean, sincere and fearless. Add to that the elegance of the contours, and the beauty of the texture – do we need any more words?
