  • Nike Air Force 2 Hi Black/Yellow-White
By on February 7th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

The Nike Air Force 2 has not come to the same level of popularity as the Air Force One but one day, it just might catch up. This pair has a yellow/black and white colorway. Please look for these sneakers at Nike retailers and at the Nike website.

The toe box starts with yellow. The mudguard is short and thick. It creates the illusion of a short toe box. The black tongue ends in a yellow label that proudly proclaims “Nike Air”. Yellow is a good choice for the accents. The midsection has black, patterned leather. The white Nike swoosh is interrupted midway to give a shorter swoosh. The shoe lace is in black and yellow plaid and is quite unique. The collar around the ankle of the shoe is a double collar.

The white midsole is a white layer that contrasts with the shoe upper. The bottom outsole is a gum sole. The back of the heel is composed of black colored panels. It creates an impression that the shoe has lots of black colored segments.

This shoe looks good as a sports shoe and as a casual shoe. The sneaker would work well with dark or light colored clothing. Would you fancy getting a pair? (Images)

    Alife Spring 2009 Footwear - #1

Fans of Alife can get a first look at their Spring 2009 Footwear collection. You can see two colorways for their Chaser kicks and three colorways for their Everybody Mid Cross sneakers. All five of these sneakers are spicy and never dull, which is typical of Alife.

The two colorways for the Chasers are blue-green and purple. The secondary color on each shoe is white, with white “Alife” wording located both on the side of the shoe and on the heel. Purple, green and orange are the three colorways for the Everybody Mid Cross kicks. “Alife” is written twice on the sides of these kicks, one horizontal and one vertical. No one will ever be mistaken that these are Alife sneakers with all this branding. Get them now at Huf.

  • Lil Waynes World Air Force Ones
By on February 7th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

Ripp’s client Junebug requested a pair of custom AF1s to honor rapper Lil Wayne, his daughter’s favorite musician. The designer was tasked with using black and white as the colorway but given great leeway on the actual design of the shoes. The result was the Lil Waynes World AF1s that showcase the different sides and talents of the rap star.

As you can see in the photo above, Ripp was trying to match Lil Wayne’s boastful ways by writing “I Am Hip Hop” across both toe boxes. On the exterior sides of the shoes, Ripp painted a portrait of Lil Wayne on the left and the rapper’s name on the right. The musical notes flowing from the guitar on the interior sides of the shoe show the rapper’s versatility. The left heel features the name Cash Money Records, the rapper’s first and only home in the music world.

I love Ripp’s work on the Lil Waynes World AF1s because he went deep into the rapper’s life and career. The artful references to his guitar playing, his hot singles and his old role as head of Cash Money Records make these shoes a proper ode to the musician. You can reach Ripp at [email protected] if you want to get your own sneakers in honor of your favorite artist.

  • Nike Huarache ‘09 “NBA All Star Game”
By on February 6th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

There is a new Pack of the Nike Huarache 2009 “NBA All Star Game.” The NBA All Star Game for 2009 is coming soon. The Nike Huarache has been worn by Tony Parker, Michael Redd, Chris Bosh and O.J. Mayo. The Game will be on February 14. The shoes are sold at Kix Files website. Images are via Kix.

This pack contains the Nike Huarache ‘09 “NBA All Star Game East” and the Nike Huarache ‘09 “NBA All Star Game West”. Let’s discuss the first shoe. The toe box is flanked by a panel that is detailed by horizontal lines of machine stitches. The shoe lace panel is a part of the large leather frame that extends to the back of heel. The high collar at the ankle is nicely decorated. The collar has leather frames with “East” sitting in the center. The light blue letters match with the color of the toe box. The Nike swoosh is white, and outlined in light blue. The colorway goes from a gradient of light blue and progresses to dark blue at the heel.

The Nike Huarache ‘09 “NBA All Star Game West” has a similar design to its counterpart. One difference is in the lettering “West” at the collar of the ankle.

  • Beast of the East Blazers

D@ Prince Customs was asked by a friend to customize a pair of Nike Blazers to celebrate the reigning NBA champion Boston Celtics. The result was the Beast of the East Blazers, an ode to the Boston Three Party’s fantastic 2008 season and its fast start in 2009. I found these images at D@ Prince’s Nike Talk post linked here.

D@ Prince painted Boston in big block letters along the right shoe to set the tone for these Blazers. On the left shoe, he drew a fantastic likeness of the Celtics logo next to the name Rey Rey. The most impressive aspect of the Beast of the East Blazers is the green/gold colorway used on the Nike swoosh and eyelets. The gold four-leaf clovers set against the green backdrops on the eyelets and swoosh show D@ Prince’s ability to create finely detailed images without breaking a sweat.

The designer is a Sixers fan but he was able to set aside this Eastern Conference rivalry in the name of sneaker art. D@ Prince Customs set the price of the Beast of the East Blazers at $150 and finished these shoes in no time. If the Celtics can finish off the 2009 NBA Finals and repeat as champions, D@ Prince’s client will have no problem laying down that kind of money for these great sneakers.
