  • White Denim Dunk Lows
By on December 11th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

The White Denim Dunk Lows pictured in this post may look simple to the average reader. A designer with the handle lakebay2 actually spent some long hours converting some gray/orange/purple Dunks (pictured below) into all-white denim Dunks. The designer posted these pictures on the Nike Talk thread linked here.

A few haters have been criticizing lakebay2 for the stitching and overall results of the white denim experiment. I think these criticisms are unfair considering lakebay2’s ambitious design as well as his deft touch with the stitching needle. The reason why the denim conversion may look a bit unkempt is the fact that there isn’t another color to distract the eye from the stitching.

If you look at all-denim shoes from other brands, you will see that lakebay2 stacks up favorably. I think that we should all learn to appreciate the skill needed to create something simple before we look at complex offerings in the sneaker art market. The White Denim Dunk Lows offer a nice entree into the world of simple but well-made custom sneakers.

    Alife Everybody Hi Afghan

As part of their holiday collection, here’s a unique makeup of the Alife Everybody Hi. This shoe, dubbed “Afghan”, features an all khaki upper in a mixture of canvas and suede.

The black and white afghan print comes into play in small accents and on the laces. It’s a simple look that gets a touch of pizazz with the print.

Expect these shoes to hit the shelves in upcoming weeks at a price of $120 a pair. If you want to make them even more basic and minimalistic, switch out the laces for a khaki pair. Via Complex.

  • Air Jordan PHLY Legends White Cement

    Source of images: here.

Air Jordan PHLY Legends will be releasing a new design that is called the White Cement. The PHLY line is similar to the Nike Hi Blazer. It has the vintage look, while including upgraded technology to keep the user’s feet comfortable. This new design was inspired by a similar shoe in the Air Jordan 3 line. It uses the colors of white, varsity red and cement.

The PHLY keeps the traditional Wings logo on the side of the ankle. The back of the ankle has “MCMLXXVIII”, which is 1978, the year Jordan first met Pop Herring, MJ’s high school coach. Pop Herring is one of the people who have inspired Jordan. The website, eBay, sells one pair of these PHLY shoes for $80. The retailers will be selling these shoes soon. This is a casual shoe that is designed as part of Air Jordan’s venture to provide sneakers for casual wear, that is, for its lifestyle releases.

The mudguard at the toe box is in elephant print. The mudguard at the back of the heel also uses the same kind of cackle print. The outsole is simple and yet it looks good with the choice of colors and design.
