  • Jason Dunks 2.0
By on December 18th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

After shoe and clothing company Sneakfiend asked Mizzee Customs for custom Dunks based on Jason Voorhees in the spring, the designer got a flood of requests for more. Mizzee Customs has responded to repeated requests for an encore with the Jason Dunks 2.0. These customs were created for another client and depict Friday the 13th’s villain in the bloodiest way possible.

Mizzee sets the scene on the right shoe by showing a nervous man covering his mouth with his hand. It is clear that he has seen Jason but he is unable to run away in time. The left shoe shows the carnage created after Jason cuts off the head of the unnamed character. Jason stands emotionless as the character’s head is separated, leaving behind a lifeless torso and a spurt of blood.

The designer wanted to take a new and more graphic approach to the Jason Dunks 2.0 than his original customs. His second go-around with Jason Voorhees is a smashing success, capturing the cold-blooded nature of this famed movie character. You can reach Mizzee Customs at [email protected] if you want your own horror customs or want to lobby for a Jason Dunks 3.0.

  • Cotton Candy/Popsicle Air Force Ones
By on December 17th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

Ripp took a break from designing for outside clients and decided to make a pair of custom sneakers for his girlfriend. His girlfriend asked for a pair of customs with colors from her favorite treats, cotton candy and Popsicles. Ripp calls these custom Air Force Ones “Cotton Candy with a Popsicle,” highlighting the burst of color featured in the photos below.

The middle panel, heel tag and toe box are painted pink to represent cotton candy. The bright blue panels and orange Nike swoosh symbolize different colors of Popsicles available from your neighborhood ice cream man. The heel tag features a pink backdrop, blue Nike and orange swoosh to bring all of these elements together.

Ripp’s Cotton Candy with a Popsicle Air Force Ones remind me of summer even though it is freezing outside. The swirl of candy-themed colors makes me look forward to the first days of summer, enjoying some cool treats in the sun. You can hit up Ripp for your own colorful customs by emailing [email protected].

  • Nike Huarache Air Force 1 Purple/Black
By on December 16th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

The Nike Huarache Air Force 1 is a celebration of the Huarache and Air Force 1 in a number of ways. The ACG celebrates their 20th anniversary in 2009. This shoe is one of their commemorative designs to celebrate their long milestone in history. Please look for this shoe in the Nike website.

This Nike Huarache Air Force One has a black suede toe box. It has regularly spaced perforations. The mudguard is of the same color suede. The shoe lace region is entirely purple, with a nice lace lock at the start of the lace. The black toe box becomes an outstanding accent. To add interest, the Nike swoosh is in white and this is an obvious contrast on the shoe upper.

The tip of the tongue has a black and white Huarache logo. The combination of the black and white colors attempts to show the close association of Nike and Huarache. The outsole is transparent on the outermost layer. This shows through to the pink colored layer of the outsole. There is a grid of purple lines to add details to the design.

This hybrid shoe has been designed to provide comfort. It has tried to improve upon the older models of the Air Force One shoes.

  • Paris Dunk Low 2008
By on December 16th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

Mizzee Customs took a crack at recreating the venerable Paris Dunks released in the summer of 2003. The original Paris Dunks featured panels from French artist Bernard Buffet and each pair was unique. The designer behind Mizzee Customs had to step up his game to make his Paris Dunks look like the originals.

The colors and details on the Paris Dunks by Mizzee Customs are nearly as impressive as the original model. Mizzee used the canvas backdrop for his miniature paintings while using neutral suede on the toe box to let your eyes recover from the colorful images. Additional photos of these custom Dunks below show that Mizzee Customs took great care to replicate the brush strokes, backdrops and day-to-day themes used by Bernard Buffet.

While this project would be ambitious for a novice sneaker artist, Mizzee Customs has been making beautifully designed sneakers since 1999. You can look at Mizzee’s other projects at http://www.myspace.com/mizzeecustoms and email the designer at [email protected] if you want your own customs.
