Sean Culligan is a relatively new sneaker artist who posted some interesting shoes at the Nike Talk thread linked here. While the rest of Culligan’s collection looks interesting, I was most intrigued by a pair of Air Force Ones honoring Bob Marley.

These black Air Force Ones are punctuated by bright white paint used expertly by Culligan. The left shoe is a black/white portrait of Marley playing his guitar with a contented look on his face. Culligan used the right shoe to write out Bob Marley in looping but clean cursive.

I am glad that Culligan put up his work for critique by fellow sneaker artists and sneaker fans. If the Bob Marley Air Force Ones are representative of his talents, Sean Culligan should be a rising star in the world of customs. Nike intends to bring out a new release of the Nike Air Trainer SC in the Fall of 2009. The original Nike Air Trainer SC total Orange was made popular by Bo Jackson. Jackson did an ad campaign titled, “Do I Know You?” The Fall in 2009 will see this retro sneaker make a comeback in the legendary colors of white, light zen grey, total orange and stealth colorway.

The toe box is in white. It has a strip of blue vertically down the length of the toe box. There are two shoe straps in orange, at the extreme ends of the shoe lace region. The shoe lace panel is also designed in a zig zag pattern. The Nike Swoosh is grey and works well against the background of the dark grey mudguard. The slope of the mudguard follows the gradual slope of the shoe The midsole is a tight combination of orange and light grey. The front of the midsole has a sprawling design, while the back has the traditional window and horizontal lines.

The high ankle has a shaped contour and has perforations too. The best feature of the shoe may be its two shoe straps. Nike will get the approval of their old and new fans when they bring out this iconic sneaker again.
