  • Nike Air Penny III Black/Black-Varsity Royal
By on December 27th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

The Nike Air Penny III will be re-issued in 2009. This release features the smooth, liquid look of the Foamposite. This model promises a unique style and performance. Look for it in the Nike website.

There are no separate panels for the shoe lace braces. It forms a part of the main upper, and continues down to the toe box. There are 3 neat vertical columns of perforations on the toe box. The black leather has a fine grain. The small Nike swoosh looks elegant near the heel. The midsole has the silver-black shield that rises above the midsole like a wave. This gives the shoe a futuristic look.

At the side of the heel, the small window allows a tiny peek into the air technology used in the heel. The midsole at the bottom of the heel has another transparent window. I think this shoe emphasizes quite a bit on the air technology. The heel has a short black and blue striped tag. The back of the heel has the Air logo.

The mainly black color theme used in this show gives it a classy look. The small amounts of accents in blue and white are just sufficient to dress up the shoe.

  • Last in NFC East Dunks
By on December 27th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

D@ Prince Customs showed his NFL rooting interests with the Last in NFC East Dunks. The Washington Redskins got off to a fast start this season behind new coach Jim Zorn and running back Clinton Portis but collapsed down the stretch. D@ Prince’s love of the Philadelphia Eagles made these customs a labor of love against his football rival.

The Last in NFC East Dunks commemorates the bottom-dwelling 2008 Washington Redskins on a pair of plain Nike Dunks. D@ Prince wrote out Redskins in yellow block letters on the left shoe and recreated an oversized Redskins helmet logo on the right shoe. The toe box features a yellow line surrounded by white borders similar to the stripe on top of a football helmet.

D@ Prince wrote his client’s name and birth date on these Dunks in white above the outsole. While the designer probably took great joy in busting the chops of his favorite team’s rivals, his work did not suffer from his passion for football. You can check out more at D@ Prince’s latest Nike Talk link here and ask questions of the designer at [email protected].

Nike Air Force 2 High Valentine

Every year we see a multitude of sneakers come out for Valentine’s Day in various shades of red and pink. And of course, this year is no exception. Although Valentine’s Day is still more than a month and a half away, we are starting to see some Valentine’s Day related releases.

This particular release from Nike features a colorway of red, white and gold. Expect these shoes to be released in late January/early February 2009 – in time for Valentine’s Day on February 14th.

The Nike Air Force 2 High Valentine features perforated white side panels, a white toe box and white midsole. The rest of shoe is mostly red, except the gold accents. The gold stands out on the swoosh and other details on the tongue tab and heel. Via High Snobiety

  • Nike Dunk High Premium SB “Night Owl”

Nike Dunk High Premium SB Night Owl - #1

The details included in these Nike Dunk High Premiums are impressive. Called the “Nike Owl”, these kicks are available online at Caliroots for about $125 USD. If you are a fan of cool stitching and details, these sneakers are for you.

Though these shoes use a black base, they stand out with red, green and blue accents. The red is located mostly around the ankle, while the green is used in the stitching all around the shoe — including on the Nike swoosh. The blue is located on the side of the shoe on the image of the owl. They are finished off with an ice sole. Via High Snobiety.

  • Ray Allen Air Jordan 2.5 PE – white/green colorway
By on December 26th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

Ray Allen is honored with this Air Jordan 2.5 PE shoe. Ray Allen gets an exclusive color, green, for his PE sneaker. Some collectors of Air Jordan like to get their hands on the exclusive colors and Ray Allen’s shoes are a popular category for collectors. These shoes will be sold at the House of Hoops locations (NY, LA, CHI), starting on December 27.

The colorway is a unique white and green combination. There are no seams on the shoe upper and it looks to be made from one continuous piece. The mudguard at the front is made from shiny leather. The mudguard around the heel is composed of elephant print in grey and white colors. The midsole is green. I like the outsole, with its interesting blend of green and white colors.

The shoe lace panels have cackle print to make an interesting accent. There are 5 small green-based panels at the start of the shoe lace holes. This is matched by the ending of the shoe lace threading. There is a set of green colored lacing holes. The collar around the ankle has green accents. The seam around the collar wants to suggest that it is hurriedly attached by a few stitches in green thread. The sparse branding with the words “Sugar Ray” keeps the design of this shoe clean.
