  • Kaws/Original Fake x Nike Air Max Pack – black and white colorways.

This is a great pack in two colorways.

Nike Sportswear planned to release this pack on Oct. 18. These are 2 Air Max sneakers designed in collaboration with KAWS, the Brooklyn based artist. The two designers have used the Air Max 90 and Air Max 90 Current. Nike’s designer working with KAWS in this project is Jesse Leyva, the Nike Sportswear Design Director.

This Pack features creative 4-way stretch fabrics. The inspiration for these two shoes comes from ACG, Nike’s outdoor production brand. This Pack aims to create a sneaker with a trail runner’s attitude and yet have iconic stylish footwear traits. KAWS said he desired to create a simple sneaker that he could wear and include stylish elements too.

The black colorway looks impressive. The shoe lace has neon yellow highlights. At the side of the seam, there are neon yellow “XX” and also at the tip of the tongue too. The mudguard at the side of the shoe is made of another material. The side panel is in leather. The different materials make the shoe upper look good.

The white colorway has one main difference from its black colored counterpart. The outsole is neon yellow. The shoe lace is white with neon yellow highlights. I prefer the black colorway.

  • Nike SB Spiderman Dunk Mid – Super Hero/Villain Pack
By on October 17th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

This colorway is very reminicesent of the “Shark” SB Dunk Low that dropped in 2002 but this red and blue SB Dunk is entirely different. This Dunk is part of the Super Hero/Villain Pack and set to release sometime mid November. They feature a red suede and blue leather upper, black swoosh and laces. The color placement is dead on in comparison to Spiderman’s Costume.Although they’re mids and probably wont get too much love, they are a very solid shoe overall.

  • Quailman Blazer Mids
    By on October 17th, 2008 | 5 Comments5 Comments Comments

D@ Prince Customs recently created a pair of women’s Nike Blazer Mids based on the 1990s Nickelodeon cartoon Doug. These customs feature Quailman, the super hero alter ego of the main character, along with his pet Quaildog. I found D@ Prince’s latest work at the Nike Talk post linked here.

The designer started by painting his client’s name along the heel in white lettering. He set the stage for Quailman’s latest adventure with a playful space background including colorful planets, willowy clouds and bright stars.

Newcomers to Quailman and Quaildog can check out the right shoe to find the character’s name in big red letters. The left shoe has Doug in all of his glory, standing in front of the eternal expanse of space with utter confidence. I love that D@ Prince created an action shot of Quailman with his cape flapping in the breeze.

I can remember watching the early episodes of Doug fondly. D@ Prince did a great job of living up to my nostalgic memories of this popular cartoon. I know that the Quailman Blazer Mids will make the client happy but I hope that they encourage people to check out Doug again.
