  • Birthday Air Force Ones by Champate
By on September 26th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

Champate has taken the birthday-themed custom sneaker to a whole new level with his latest pair of Air Force Ones. We see plenty of birthday customs at MyAirShoes but these sneakers are impressive. The Birthday Air Force Ones were commissioned through Champate’s website linked here by a sneaker fan with a love for the blue/yellow colorway.

The designer took some liberties with the birthday theme to make these Air Force Ones special. The middle panel features the word “birthday” in dozens of languages printed in yellow paint. Champate added the words “happy birthday” on the edges of the toe boxes in colorful lettering. He also used musical notes and symbols running from the toe box to the heel to simulate singing the birthday song.

Champate’s World Domination Tour rolls on with the Birthday Air Force Ones. These sneakers may not fit the typical profile for the designer’s work but it shows his ability to switch tones quickly. The addition of “birthday” in foreign languages and the visual representation of the birthday song set these customs apart from the competition.

What’s really special about these is on the left foot, the official NBA All Star Game is screened on, its also screened into the insole as well! The upper is pretty nice in the standard Western Conference colors of dark maroon, white and just a hint of gold. Rumor has it that only two pairs were made, one pair was on the feet of Melo during the ASG and the other pair is this one you see on eBay now.

Nike and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital have a joint effort to raise money for the hospital’s research and operations on needy children. Nike designs shoes in the Doernbecher series for this project. The money collected from the sales of the Doernbecher series is donated to the hospital. This series’ designer is Tony Taylor Jr., who has a nickname when he is mentioned on the shoe. Nis nickname is Mr. Boober. Tony Taylor is reported as a former patient of Nephrotic Syndrome and a kidney transplant patient.

Besides Tony Taylor, two other designers, Jayson Mayden and Estelle Maranan also helped in this project. Taylor used his personal experiences to design the shoes. The entire Nike-Doernbecher collection of 5 shoes will be released on November 14.

The shoe has a background of the night sky in various shades, ranging from black to blue. Tall trees are in the landscape, with outlines of grass and other objects in the foreground. • Vine Blossom Dunk Highs
By on September 25th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

Diversitile Custom Clothing had a fashion shoot recently for its fall line of clothes and shoes. The designer decided to leak these custom Dunk Highs called the Vine Blossoms through the Customsnkr.com blog linked here. Diversitile says in the post that the Vine Blossom Dunk Highs mix “friendly but dangerous” elements in a single design.

One look at the Vine Blossom Dunk Highs make this quote ring true. The picture above shows both shoes lined up heel to heel; the result is a pair of ominous eyes glaring through green vines. Diversitile added a lush green paint to the front of the Nike swoosh along with some pink flowers to complete the vine blossom theme.

If you look at the shoe from heel to toe, you will notice that the vine blossom motif shows up consistently. The color of the pink blossoms match the pink paint used on the swoosh as it rounds the heel as well as the color used on the toe box. You will notice that a set of blossoms float along a gray backdrop alongside the toe box. Diversitile has defied convention successfully while blending the frightening eyes on the heels with the placid pink blossoms on the rest of the shoe.
