  • Custom Nike Dunk Low – Shmack
By on September 16th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

These Custom Nike Dunks were created for the owner of SHMACK clothing by Bespoke Sneaker Gallery. The owner of Shmack clothing loved them so much that he decided to feature them as part of a national ad campaign. These custom kicks however, are the one and only pair so don’t count on having a pair of these in your closet or collection.

These shoes are brightly colored with metallic gold paint on the front and a turquoise background with the signature SHMACK stars everywhere. The best part is of course the word “SHMACK” written in white cartoon-like letters and the magenta Nike swoosh.

  • Kaws x Nike Air Max 90
By on September 16th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

    here.

Kaws has worked on the Nike Air Max 90. This design is done with the all white colorway. The shoe upper is made of suede and mesh materials. The accent is in fluorescent green. The lace-lock hasthe traditional cross eyes symbol of Kaws. These Kaws eyes are also used in stitching in another part of the sneaker. This is a sample pair made by Kaw. There is no information on whether this design would be made available for sale to the public.

The toe box is made of mesh. The mesh pattern is interesting as it looks to be thick woven fabric with white thread that is weaved on top of the fabric. The mud guard is suede and it is attached with cross stitches. The cross eye stitches are in white thread, except for a pair of cross eyes in fluorescent light green thread. The tongue is white mesh. The shoe lace is white with rims of light green. The tag at the tip of the broad tongue is white. The main shoe upper is in mesh, with suede panels as reinforcements. A large panel almost covers the midsection. There are decorative shoe lace holes to make the corrugated panels look interesting. The inner lining is white and padded for comfort.

  • Custom Air Force Ones in Red, Gold and Silver
By on September 16th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

A designer with the handle lakebay2 showcased a bunch of new custom sneakers in a Nike Talk post linked here. My favorites were the red/gold/silver Air Force Ones shown above because they caught my eye right away. You can check out additional photos of lakebay2’s work after this post.

While lakebay2’s work as a whole is fantastic, I think the gem of this collection is the red/gold/silver Air Force Ones. The tri-color look would be nice on its own but lakebay2 used interesting colors to fill in each section. I am not sure if these shoes were meant to symbolize the bronze, silver and gold of the Beijing Olympics (the red is a little to bright to be considered bronze) but they look great without this context.

Anyone who has read my posts throughout the past year knows that I love small touches that contribute to a great shoe. I love the the red and silver “Air” on the outsole as well as the gold line running underneath. I know that lakebay2 probably poured heart and soul into these shoes but I hope we see some more inspired sneakers like these Air Force Ones in the near future.

The Hypermax is a mid-cut shoe that features an ankle strap, air unit and fly wire technology. With a classic colorway of white, black and dark red, the Nike Hypermax should be able to fit most any wardrobe. Expect these shoes to retail at $130 when they are released on June 1st. • MACHE x Nike Air Force 1 Custom – Jokers
By on September 16th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

Since the release of the mega hit movie Batman: The Dark Knight, everyone has applauded the role of the Joker played by the late Heath Ledger. So much so that we’ve seen several custom shoes inspired by the character, but this latest pair may be the nicest yet. This pair of Air Force Ones were created by MACHE and feature a colorful upper consisting of purple, white, green, and red, which are all colors associated with the Joker through either his clothing or make – up. Like others we have seen, they feature the question Why So Serious? which was one of the Joker’s most memorable lines in the movie.
