  • Custom Stan Smiths by Yassir Rais
By on September 21st, 2008 | No Comments Comments

I highlighted the latest creations by designer Yassir Rais in yesterday’s post. The Adidas Stan Smith customs shown above were the first posted by Rais at his Customsnkr.com blog linked here. While I am a bigger fan of his “Under Construction” Nike Dunks, I think his initial entry into the world of custom sneakers was impressive.

The background pattern used by Rais features blue squares, blue triangles, red Xs and green stars. He extended these colors to red, blue and green eyelets as well as a stream of colors on the tongue. Yassir freestyled a bit on the heels of these Stan Smiths with a black/white flower winding its way from the collar to the back panel.

Every designer’s first effort at custom art is an adventure into the unknown. It is clear, however, that Yassir’s true talents show through these Stan Smith. The rich details and eye for contrasts expressed in the “Under Construction” Dunks make themselves known in Yassir’s first shoes. The best part about Yassir Rais’ first sneakers is the willingness to think outside of the box to create an interesting new design.

    Nike Air Pippen – Tar/Light Taupe/White - #1

While his teammate on the Chicago Bulls got most of the attention, Scottie Pippen was also a wildly popular player in his day.Pippen had his own line of shoes with Nike and while it wasn’t as successful as Michael Jordan’s, it had many classic releases. Nike has brought back a vintage Pippen shoe and it is available at Nike.com.

This shoe uses a wavy design with a colorway of tar, white and light taupe. These kicks are definitely eye-catching and even feature the Pippen logo on the tongue of the shoe. You can pick up a pair now for $160 at the online Nike store and other retailers such as LTD Online. Via Sneaker News.

  • Jordan Blasé – black and white/beige colorways.
By on September 20th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

    here.

Jordan Brand is going to introduce a new look to its dress shoes. These off court shoes will be revamped to look very trendy. Jordan Brand has scheduled a new release on Oct. 1. This post will feature the Jordan Blasé. This line manufactures lifestyle sneakers to cater to users who want to wear stylish shoes with their casual dress attire. This new release of Jordan Blasé comes in two new colorways.

Let us look at the black colorway now. The toe box is in plain, black leather. The entire toe box is its own cap or mud guard. The midsection is made of thick, woven fabric that looks like heavy canvas. The thick shoe strap looks attractive and it has a bit of design on the leather too. The back tab is canvas and then the heel becomes leather again.

The white colorway has a totally different look. The midsection has a pattern on its canvas. The back tab also has a pattern. The shoe strap and segment at the heel are in beige. The white toe box makes the shoe look classy and clean. I prefer the white colorway because of the patterns.

  • Under Construction Nike Dunks
By on September 20th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

Designer Yassir Rais showed off his latest custom Dunks at the Customsnkr.com blog post linked here. Rais is a relatively new artist who created his first pair of customs at the beginning of 2008. His “Under Construction” Nike Dunks are pretty impressive for a designer with a few projects under his belt.

The bottom half of the Dunks feature a brick-and-mortar design while the top half is a gray concrete wall. While Rais may have been creating a simple pair of custom sneakers, the symbolism is quite clear. The designer’s skills are being built slowly like the brick wall. Yassir Rais is showing us that he has great self-awareness about his growing skills as a custom artist through the mixture of a unfinished brick wall with a cracked concrete surface.

Rais says these Dunks are available for sale; if you are interested, you can contact the designer at [email protected]. The “Under Construction” Dunks look great and I plan on writing up the rest of his collection soon to showcase this rising star in the world of custom sneakers.

Nike LeBron Zoom Ambassador - #1

LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers is arguably the most talented basketball player on the planet. Nike has begun to really market LeBron more and more and this new line of LeBron Zoom Ambassador kicks is just further evidence.

Featured in these pictures are four different colorways for the Zoom Ambassadors. The first is a nice white, black and gray mockup. A second colorway features an all black look. The third make-up offers a simplified white and black colorway, while a white and maroon Cavaliers colorway is the fourth version. The Zoom technology means these shoes don’t just look good, they perform well too. Look for these shoes on Lebron’s feet and on the shelves of your local Nike retailer.
