For anyone who hasn’t yet seen the resemblance to the Nike Dunk SB Pigeon sneakers from a couple years back, allow us educate you. The Pigeon Dunks were probably the craziest hyped Nike Dunk SB’s in the short life of Nike Dunk SB’s; read the story here. You can see the Pigeon SB’s and other Jeffstaple creations here. These New Balance sneakers pay homage to those Dunks, and they’re probably way more comfortable than the Dunks. The pigeon’s seem to be the staple of Staple. If you read Sole Redemption, you’re a winner! Not trying to be too corny, as Beautiful Losers is an independent film opening tomorrow at New York’s IFC Center. The story follows some loose-knit youngsters finding common ground at a New York City storefront gallery which offers them an opportunity to dig into the subcultures of punk, hip-hop, skateboarding, graffiti, and surfing. In commemoration of the film, Nike Sportswear’s Jesse Leyva created a series of 22 Beautiful Losers Nike Dunks. After going on exhibit at the New York and Los Angeles ‘Make Something!’ workshops, 2 sets of the sneakers will be put on auction with proceeds donated to the Children’s Aid Society. Kind of deep, huh? Losers or not, the sneakers are beautiful. See them after the break.
