  • Joe Mauer Air Force Ones
By on July 25th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

My love of the Milwaukee Brewers makes it difficult for me to cheer for anyone from the Minnesota Twins. The rivalry between the Brewers and Twins goes back to a time when both teams were battling in the American League. The Air Force Ones shown in this post belong to Twins All-Star catcher Joe Maeur. I may not like Mauer as a player but I certainly respect his taste in shoes.

Mauer approached JGoods Custom Sneakers about producing a one-off Air Force One honoring his achievements. JGoods produced a shoe that could serve as a template for other players seeking custom sneakers. The insole features Mauer’s number 7 as well as the Twins logo. The number 7 appears on the outer heel of both shoes to distinguish Mauer’s sweet sneakers from competing custom shoes. JGoods Custom Sneakers added a touch of comic design to the tongue with two ballplayers shaking under the customizer’s name.

You can see Mauer with his custom sneakers in the photo at the bottom of this post. The shoes cannot be reproduced but JGoods estimates that they would retail for about $900. Readers can check out additional pictures of the Joe Mauer Air Force Ones at the JGoods website linked here.

The Olympics Birds Nest Stadium Pack has featured several classic models and now here it is on the Nike Huarache ‘08. Nike has been churning out a lot of shoes dedicated to the Beijing Olympics, giving some attention to some of their newer models.

With the same abstract pattern of the Birds Nest Stadium in Beijing, this Huarache features a black suede upper with blue and purple accents.

The Nike Huarache ‘08 BBall Men’s Basketball Shoe offers a modern take on the Huarache with updated technology including a compression molded Phylon midsole with Zoom Air units in the heel and forefoot, a compression inner sleeve for the classic Huarache fit and a TPU shank for superior arch support.
