This is a new concept. The shoe  is a convertible.  It was developed as part of Nike’s Considered line. The materials used are environmentally friendly. It uses a flap on the heel. You can wear the shoe with the flap up and it looks like a normal sneaker. When the flap is down, it is a slip-on sandal.  This shoe is a prototype. It is not known if Nike would actually manufacture this in bulk for sale to the public.

I think the convertible shoe would be very popular. People who want to wear sandals and be relaxed would appreciate this convertible when they walk to venues that require the use of formal dress codes and shoes. It is very convenient to lift up the flap and the sandal gets changed into respectable shoes.

I like the cool colors of grey/blue/green. These are mild and neutral colors and they match any color of clothing.

Since shoes are a necessity and they get worn very often, buying shoes that are environmentally friendly would be extremely helpful. You can just imagine the millions of tons of wasted shoes being dumped every year that are not biodegradable. If everybody uses biodegradable and environmentally friendly shoes, they would help to save the earth.

Nike is releasing a new air revolution high. It features a white/black upper with red and yellow accents and a pattern running over one of the heel panels. Look for this sneaker in the next two weeks. More pics after the jump.via hangtime

Nike Skateboarding introduced the first Zoom Tre in 2006. It was a shoe that provided good cushioning and grip. It promised not to blow out while giving it’s best quality to the user. This year, Nike introduces the Zoom Tre A.D.

During the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City when newly crowned 200 meter champion and record holder Tommie Smith raised his fist on the podium, along with bronze medal winner John Carlos, the controversy began. The barefoot athletes’ black power salute was meant to represent black poverty. The two were booed by the crowd. The Olympic committee thought politics had no place during the events.

Smith and Carlos were stripped of their medals and banned from the Olympic village. The statement made headlines around the world and brought attention to the African-American protests happening around the United States.

40 years later, these two brave men never received their Olympic medals, which they rightfully earned. But they are being honored with this small tribute by Puma with the “Tommie Smith” Suede Pack.

To commemorate the 1968 Olympic Black Power Salute, a two sneaker collection of Suedes will release later this year. Both the black and red shoes feature a repeating fist monogram embossed allover. Look for these shoes to be available in August of 2008. Via Streething
