The shoe is made of patent leather vamp. It is wrapped in a carbon-fiber printed cage. This gives it a textured look and it is awesome. The toe box is made of shiny leather. The mid-sole is speckled with white dots. The outsole is transparent and it shows the printed carbon fiber pattern inside.
When you turn over and look at the outsole/footbed, you can see the District Columbia’s Metro Train System map printed on it. I like this. Recently, there has been an increase in the use of transport maps on the outsoles. Soon, this might become a common trend in sneakers.
These sneakers will be released on its first launch on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 10 am, at Major’s store. There are only 30 pairs available for sale at this first release. Near the end of March, Adidas will release more sneakers to coincide with Major’s release of caps with speckle designs and pillbox caps.

Evolved Footwear and 2000words.org have collaborated on the Purple Rain Storm III shown above. This pair of customized Nike Air Stabs leave much to be desired in terms of taste as well as execution. I have reviewed quite a few of Evolved Footwear’s customs but this seems to fall short on all counts.
These custom Air Stabs were six months in the making according to Evolved Footwear’s post on NikeTalk. I think six months was too much time to think about flourishes and elements to add to this shoe. The speckled outsole, purple spotted white swoosh and inverted paint job on the toe box are too much for my eyes. The cherry on top of this poorly-conceived pair of customs is the bright green laces.
I know Evolved Footwear works within the confines of requests from clients and collaborators. I think they could have put together a better pair of Air Stabs if they exerted a bit more creative control. The simplest way these shoes could be improved is using another set of laces to dampen some of the excessive exuberence.
Reebok collaborated with a Chicago boutique called Leaders 1354. They came up with a Reverse Jams that will be released in April. Stocks will be in Complex.
The highlight of this shoe might be in the outsole. It has a see-through outer sole with a map of Chicago on the inside. The public transport system of Chicago was the inspiration behind the “Leaders 1354 Jam.” The train lines of red, yellow, blue, green, brown, orange, purple, and pink are all represented. The shoe is designed to look like a train. There are so many materials used – crackle leather, perforated suede, ostrich, metallic silver, 3M and premium leather. I love the idea of using so many exotic materials. It is very rare that one gets the chance to wear so many varieties of leather all at once.
The South Side has the Red line of train routes. There are pairs of sneakers that will feature the South Side. The other half of this consignment will feature the North Side. The outsole will show the Blue Stripes for the North Side. Fans who love this edition of “Leaders 1354 Jam” might buy 2 pairs of shoes; one with the South Side route and the other with the North Side.
