  • Nike “Grammy” Dunk Hi
By on February 8th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

This Nike Dunk Hi was designed to commemorate the Grammy Awards. Many pairs were given to the Grammy winners. After which, the sneakers were made available for sale in the store. This edition will be on sale only at Fred Segal, on Melrose, in Los Angeles. The store will get the exclusive privilege of selling them. The date of sales has not been released yet.

The Nike swoosh is in metallic gold and cracked leather. The white panel is ostrich leather. I think this shoe looks sober and formal. The only attribute to glamour is in the gold swoosh. I guess it represents the weight of the seriousness of the Grammy Awards. The function is a suit and gown formal affair so this shoe is in the same vein. I like the use of purple laces. They provide a touch of color.

This year’s Grammy Awards will take place on Feb. 10, at the Staples Center. This is the Award with the highest place of honor for people working in the recording industry. Amy Winehouse was nominated for 6 awards on Dec. 6, 2007. Her application for a US visa has been refused. If she wins any award, her representative will receive it. I’ll wish good luck to all the nominees.

Ashton Kutcher & Bruce Willis joked around as they celebrated Ashton’s birthday last Saturday, on Feb. 1. Ashton wore Nike sneakers.

  • Nike Air Max 90 Quickstrike – Running Man Pack

Nike Air Max 90 Quickstrike- Running Man Pack

Here’s the first look from the Nike Runnning Man Quickstrike Pack. This Air Max 90 combines bright green and yellow for a very bold shoe.

It is expected that the Running Man Quickstrike Pack will also include several other different models and vibrant colorways. Because it’s a QS Pack, these sneakers of course will be limited. The black splatter on the yellow midsole and laces highlights this shoe.

The Air Max 90 goes on sale on February 15th at the Overkill Shop. Look for these in you local Nike Quickstrike accounts, as well.

  • Saucony Courageous Sneaker

The Saucony Courageous sneaker is being released in Australia with an homage to dance troup Floor Lords. The Courageous comes in three colors with my favorite navy/red combination shown above in addition to a black/red colorway shown after this post and an unpictured gray/red colorway. I am not familiar with the Floor Lords but I do like the idea of the name “Floor Lords” stitched next to the Saucony symbol.

I enjoy the basic premise of Saucony sneakers especially for serious jogging. The problem comes when a new take on Saucony’s classic design comes out without comparable fanfare for newer designs. It seems like the brand’s classic shoes outpace their newer trainers among every group except a dedicated band of runners. In the near future, I can see a backlash against Saucony’s simple design with dozens of other brands leaping ahead with futuristic designs. I will enjoy the Saucony Courageous sneaker for now but I cannot imagine it will have the staying power of a Nike, Adidas or Puma sneaker.

    New Balance 576 - February '08

The New Balance 576 is celebrating its 20th anniversary in style with some hot new colorways this year. Coming soon, look for the Metal pack, featuring a metallic silver and metallic gold edition, as well as a group of modern looking 576’s in bright colors in a very contemporary pack.

In the contemporary pack, there is a bright yellow version that is decked out in black mesh and red trim. It’s definitely a bold shoe that will get some attention. Also in the pack is a blue version, which features two shades of blue trimmed in grey and white.

The Metal pack’s gold colorway features shiny gold patent leather with a grey “N” and midsole. The black laces make these really standout. If you love metallic shoes, these are a good bet. The silver version is a little more monochromatic with the shiny silver uppers and grey trim.

All of these 576’s are expected at New Balance retailers soon.Via Hypebeast.

Adidas Womens Top Ten Hi - "Handbags for Feet"

The Handbags for Feet (H.F.F.) Collection is a new exclusive collection for women created by Adidas. The collection consists of two Top Ten Hi’s, along with matching handbags and clothing, which can be found at Adidas Originals stores.

These sneakers use the materials normally only reserved for expensive handbags. The brown version pictured above is my favorite of the two shoes. The shoe combines deep brown leather with a gold, silver and brown all-over print. The other shoe in the collection is white patent leather with a more subtle and simple silver print.

The brown shoe is priced at $120 and the white one at $150.Via The Shoe Game.
