    Alife Spring 2008 - Chaser

The Chaser and the Kennedy Hi are two new shoes that will be a part of the Alife 2008 spring collection. While these shoes have a very simple look, they are also rather unique. Peeps will know you are rocking Alife’s from a mile away when they see these on your feet.

The Chaser shoes are built for running. It’s the first running shoe produced by Alife. The colorways are simple for these shoes. Pictured in grey, white and black, the whole shoes are the one main color, including the laces. The only other colors found on the shoes are the red around the ankles and the Alife logo that is either in white or black.

On the other end of the spectrum is the Kennedy Hi. These shoes are far from running shoes. In fact, they are a very casual, very non-sporty looking shoe. You can wear these with a variety of different types of clothes. Like the Chaser shoe, the shoelaces are monochromatic and correspond with the main color used on the shoe.Look for more details on these shoes coming soon. Via High Snobiety.

Nike Dunk Be True City Pack - NYC Release 1

This Nike Dunk “Be True” collection has a new City Pack. This will be available soon. Seven cities around the world will be featured. Each city will have 7 pairs of sneakers.  The number 7 features prominently in this collection. The seven cities include Los Angeles, New York, London, Tokyo, Paris, Hong Kong, and Rio de Janeiro.

The shoes in this collection look similar. They have a black colorway. The sole is a gum sole variety. The toe box has perforated leather. The rest of the shoe has premium leather. The accents are in the shoe laces and the thin boundaries that separate some parts of the shoe panels. For example, the yellow accents run in the laces and the thin boundary lines of seam. The top of the tongue has a tab that is the same color as the shoe lace.

Although the colorway is black, the different panels of the shoe stand out. The mid-section of the shoe upper is in a different shade of black. It looks like a lighter shade of black. I like the idea of unity and conformity in this new City Pack.

For each city, there are only 86 pairs of the City pack Dunk that are available on sale. You can imagine how limited this collection is.

Young designer Hziii has dropped his first pair of custom sneakers in the New Year. The Nikes shown above offer a good canvass for ornate design with a simple black/yellow colorway. You can see the letter K and the number 7 in gold print on the toe boxes which was requested by Hziii’s friend. The flowery print is framed with gold vines running along the front of each toe box.

I like that Hziii was sparing in his use of gold paint. A less-disciplined designer would have gone to town with gold leaves, vines and other plants from heel to toe. I am left wanting more design touches as I move away from the toe box. Check out another picture below and additional pictures at Hziii’s website.
