  • Nike Vandal Low for the 2008 Olympics

The Nike Vandal Lows shown above are part of the Nike Copper-Art pack designed to celebrate the 2008 Summer Olympics. These shoes feature a white/copper/black colorway that would look great on a sprinter’s feet during the 100 meter dash. I like the use of copper to play off the red border of the Nike swoosh. The separation of each color is clean with thick stitching allowing fans to move from white to copper and black in an orderly fashion.

I have posted a picture below of the Nike Air Stab included in the Copper-Art pack as a point of comparison. The Air Stab’s use of copper around the eyelets breaks up the black, burgundy and white in an eye-pleasing manner. I think the Vandal Lows remain the best member of the Copper-Art pack because the design is conducive to Olympic events. I can imagine a copper streak passing my eyes as an athlete completes the high jump or long jump. Check out other members of the Copper-Art pack in upcoming weeks to begin your celebration of the 2008 Olympics.

  • Nike SB March 2008 – Dunk Low SB Anthracite/Deep Violet colorway

Nike SB March '08 - Dunk Low SB Anthracite/Deep Violet 1

This is an extremely colorful shoe. It would look great to wear out to a party. The colors symbolize the vibrant force of spring and the beginning of a new year with new life. There is black color to tone down the exuberant colors and bring it down to earth a little. The details will be released at a later date, closer to March.

The toe box is grey-black anthracite with bullet holes. It is framed by a boundary with black suede. The mid-section is also grey. I like the orange panel near the heel. It is almost luminescent, by using the trick of the gradual shifting of the shades of orange. I like the hues.

The back tab is read with Nike printed in bold black. Its matching partner is in the red outsole. The stitching of the sneaker is done in different colors for the various regions of the shoe. These small details help to make each panel of the shoe look good.

The Nike Dunks have had a long life. They were first created in 1985. The Dunk was meant as a fraternal twin of the Nike Terminator. There were many colors to suit the customized look for various Universities and Colleges. In 1998, the Dunk was revived and reintroduced with some changes. This made it popular as it became an icon for shoes as it was a leader in having new fashions and artistic touches.
