We all have a pair of great shoes from our past that we wish could be brought back to life. The custom sneakers I have written about in past entries were overhauls of great shoes based on a specific theme. The Air Jordan IIIs shown above are a series of shoes posted on NikeTalk by a novice customizer whose mission is using a little artistic liberty in bringing classic shoes back from the dead.
The original shoes had chipped paint on the midsole and yellowing paint on the heel as it came into the workshop. The designer added a richer color of blue around the heel to each side of the toe box to give the Jordan IIIs his own personal touch. It looks like the top eyelets may have been replaced to match the new color on the midsole.
Custom designers can get too fancy and mess up a great shoe with a grand design. This designer used basic cleaning, repair and design techniques to make these Air Jordan IIIs new again. The sign of a hard working designer is that the final product looks effortless. This is certainly the case with these Jordan IIIs.
The Japanese brand Doarat has just released their first sneakers. The Doarat Lightning Tex Sneaker is very similar to the Vans Sk8 Hi.
These sneakers come in three different colorful colorways, all of which have a white lightning pattern throughout the uppers. I really like the contrast stitching against the black fabric.
These shoes are available at
All three color combination are nice, but very different. The hot pink/teal are very bold. The yellow/grey are more subtle, while red/blue are more classic. All three feature black in the front of the shoe and the ptint on the side panels.
I prefer the yellow/grey version pictured above because they aren’t too loud.
Many sneakers have been using reflective materials over the last few months and now
These grey and black shoes feature reflective materials on sections of the sides, as well as around the laces and toebox. I love the black and grey color combination, even if they weren’t reflective. But the relective material gives them a little extra pizazz. These sneakers feature a black toe cap, grey laces low and black laces up top.
The heel tab has a “high voltage” logo. These shoes are available at some local Puma dealers.
This shoe belongs to the Reebok Spring/Summer 2008 Neon Pack. This Pack will have several running shoes and Pump models. These will be available at Colette.
The first pair of runner shoes has a colorway that is a dense grid of black lines on white. The pink leather accents bring this shoe into the pink of life. The yellow strips are made to cross the shoe in the opposite direction to the grey strips. I like this idea. The bottom sole is very unique. The science of gravity and balance has been investigated to create this design.
The second pair of runners is very colorful too. I like this pair better than the second pair because I prefer the colors, rather than the grid pattern. The bottom-most sole has a special 3 petal pink flower, together with its central raised thread pattern. The sole has a basic design that is similar to the first pair.
The 3rd and 4th pair of sneakers in this pack are the pumps. At the outermost shoe upper, there are 2 buttons to signify the model. They enable the user to pump up the air pressure in the mid-sole. The 4th pair has fanciful print that appears 2-dimensional. It also has pink, plastic material to accentuate the shoe.
