  • Nike Air Force Ones Representing Iowa State University

Pimp My Kicks is helping college students and alumni show their school pride by offering hand-painted designs based on major universities. A sample of PMK’s work is the Iowa State-inspired Air Forces Ones shown above. The logo tab on the heel is a mustard yellow hue that stands out from the red paint used on the rest of the shoe. I like the fact that PMK did not overextend the use of yellow paint which can grate on the eyes after awhile.

The careful crafting of ISU mascot Cy the Cardinal by PMK artists shows why these customs are worth a premium price. The right shoe features the fierce mascot in fighting mode while the left shoe features the ISU logo.  These logos look like they leaped off a website or poster to the side of these shoes. Sneaker fans serious about showing where they want to school can get a quote from Pimp My Kicks today.

Nike Air Max 90 JD Sports Exclusive

This Nike Air Max 90 with a colorway of black, white and green is an exclusive shoe available at the JD Sports website. For about $165, you can get a pair of these kicks to call your own.

With a sweet black-on-black look, these shoes from the front look extremely sharp. The main component is the black leather, however there is a black patent swoosh and black laces to complete the black-on-black feel.

When you first glance at the shoe, the only other color you see is some white lines throughout the shoe. However, it isn’t until you look at the back of the shoe that you notice the green swoosh. That green swoosh adds a splash of color to the kicks and gives an old school appearance.

    Jordan Chris Paul CP3

In honor of New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul, the Jordan Brand has created the Jordan CP3.Paul is one of the best up-and-coming players in the NBA today. This season, the 22-year-old is averaging 21.7 points, 10.4 assists and 2.8 steals to date. He is a shoe-in for the All-Star game and a legitimate MVP candidate.

From the inspiration of Paul’s 61-point game and his love of bowl, the CP3 shoe was created. This black sneaker features some interesting touches, including the grey lining, as well as the white contrast stritching on the tongue and midsole.

These shoes are expected to be released in March.Via Sneaker Files

    Adidas Consortium Micropacer Hamper 1

This release is from the Adidas Consortium series. It is named as the Microspacer Hamper. It is nicely packaged in a blue box, that has the signature blue color of Adidas. The shoe inside is the Adidas Original, with white stripes and white sole.  There are other accessories in this box. They are contained in a drawer that can be pulled out.  The extra accessories include a belt and belt buckle and cleaning kit. The Microspacer Hamper costs 350 Euros. It is available at Adidas.

I like the rich, blue color of this shoe. The material looks to be suede. Suede helps to make the colors look deeper and richer.  This special design has done away with the shoe laces. A big flap covers the opening of the shoe and is secured by velco.  A thin border of white lining material draws out an oval and right in the center is the Adidas logo. The whole sneaker has the color combination of blue and white repeated in various areas of the shoe. It makes the shoe look sleek, classic and neat in design.

Even the mid-sole of the shoe has been given a special touch. It has been divided into sections of blue and white. I think Adidas fans who dislike tying shoe laces would love this shoe.

    Adidas Conductor Hi Olympic

The Adidas Conductor Hi Olympic’s have dropped on shop Overkill. They feature a white upper with accents of gray and black. The Olympic Hi’s were released in 1987 and worn by Patrick Ewing during his New York Knick times. The recent Conductor Hi was designed in memory of the Seoul 1988 Olympics Basketball Game Final in which USSR defeated Yugoslavia 76-63. Check out a close up pic after the jump.

  • Killer Gerbil Custom Nikes

I highlighted a pair of custom Nikes from Hypethetic yesterday that stood out from the crowd. The Nikes shown above are unique kicks designed by Hypethetic and graffiti artist Killer Gerbil. The latter contributor is fairly obvious if you are capable of sight because of the gold embroidered “Killer Gerbil” on the left heel.

These shoes feature a series of brown stitchings spelling out “Killer Gerbil” behind the dark olive swoosh. The combination of a black background, olive green swoosh and brown lettering looks fantastic. My problem with the shoe is that it features way too much of the designer’s own branding without taking a departure in another creative direction. The brown stitching would have been perfect without the giant gold “Killer Gerbil” on the heel.  I know that bragging is part of the customs game but these custom Nikes a little overboard for my tastes.
