I have spoken a bit in the past about the efforts by major shoe companies to muscle into the skateboarding industry based on name recognition alone. The action sports company Consolidated Skateboards and skate shoe company Osiris have teamed up to create a satirical version of mainstream sneaker shoes with the Drunk. This shoe is available now in skate shops around the United States.

The shoe is a standard skate shoe with patent leather from heel to toe. The large yellow banana that streaks across the outside of The Drunk shoes the light hearted nature of the Osiris/Consolidated Skateboards collaboration. If you are looking for a statement and a skate shoe, The Drunk seems your best option. The only issue I have with this effort is that Osiris and Consolidated Skateboards are preaching to the converted. Skateboarders and action sports fans likely dislike the corporatism of Nike and Adidas already. In the end, you may be able to spark conversation and retrieve skateboarding from the jaws of corporate giants with a single purchase of The Drunk.

These sneakers are seasonal sneakers because they embed elements of the festive season of Halloween in them. The SK8-HI comes in black-orange-white shiny leather. It is very colorful and cheerful. Watch out for them at the Vans website.
At the side of the sole, there is even the famous holiday question, “Trick Or Treat?” printed in big letters.Along the white colorway, a small carved Jack-O-Lantern grins confidently at us. I like the Vans SK8-HI for its bright orange color.

The colorways offered by Asics for the Fall 2007 addition of the Asics ProCourt Hi help distinguish them from other entries in the Asics inventory. The black colorway features a red lining and a leather upper that provides durability for sneaker fans on foot patrol in their community. You can also select the brown colorway with blue lining as an alternative pair of shoes to your regular Asics.

These shoes aren’t out on the market yet but the ProCourt His are buzzworthy. Asics has experienced a revival in recent years as they have put a reputation as a shoe maker for Greco-Roman wrestlers behind them. Keep an eye out for the new Asics ProCourt His in upcoming weeks to stay on the cutting edge.

Sneaker.fr has reported that Nike will release the Nike Vintage series of basketball kicks; the Vandal + the Terminator next year. No word on pricing of these sneakers so far.
